I anxiously waited for the bell to ring.
I checked my watch.
It read 2:59. One more minute until I'm out of middle school.
I checked again.
3:00.
The bell rang and the football boys practically jumped up from their seats and ran for the door. As I walked out the door Quinn bumped into me and I fell down. He didn't apologize, or even seem to notice. I can't blame him, I say approximately ten words at school everyday. I'm not the definition of popular. I don't have a single friend, not since the fifth grade. While I'm content with my social life right now(Although I can hardly call it a social life), I really want to be like the popular preppy girls. I want to wear crop tops and makeup and be liked and noticed by people. But that's just not who I am unfortunately. I'm not pretty, and I'm not social at all. I guess those were the cards I was dealt and I might as well play them.
My mom and step-dad were waiting outside for me. They asked all the typical last day of school questions. "How was it?" "What did you do?" But then came another question. It was one I was expecting, but not prepared to answer yet. "Do you wanna invite your friends over sometime?" "Sure." "Did you get everyone's numbers this week so you can text them?" "Yes." "Shouldn't you be more excited?" "Sorry I'm tired." It was an excruciating conversation to have, but I got through it. We finally got home and I decided to go read a book I'm almost finished with. It's a romance about the summer of a girl who starts living in a fancy home and falls for a rich boy. I wish my summers were like that. I keep hoping something will change, but it's the same every year. Why would this year be any different?
