I walk into the studio, and sit down next to Kygo with my vegan, gluten-free, free range skim milk. I demanded this or I told him our project would be over. I can never produce without my vegan milk. It's the secret behind all my moombahton tracks. But me and this up and coming producer named Kygo were in the studio. We'd been working on our track for a while now, and it was coming along quite well. It was just one of those natural collaborations where both styles come together well. I knew that Diplo would be excited to release this on Mad Decent.
"What do you think of this synth Dill" Kygo says to me, as we continue to work. "It sounds great I say" as my cat, mittens, brushes up against me. I reach down to pet her and notice the superman usb Kygo has plugged in. "Nice usb" I say, and he nervously laughs. He tells me he has an extra if I want it. I politely decline, and continue to work on the vocals. We stare at our laptops loaded with Ableton for hours, until we finally call it a night. Although from Europe, Kygo was in town to perform at Coachella, which was in a week. I walk out of the studio, telling him that we could probably finish the track in a couple of days. He agrees, and leaves.
I drive through downtown L.A., lit up by all the signs. I think about the coming week and performing at Coachella. It's always been an important festival for me since I'd sneak in when I was young to see my favorite artists. Mittens meows from the backseat as we arrive at my place. I walk in and let Mittens out. He always has to go the studio with me. I don't know why, but I always bring him. I start to prepare dinner, and receive an email from my manager saying that somebody actually bought the "DILLON FRANCIS WILL BUILD YOUR IKEA BED" item off of my website. It costs 5,000 dollars, but all the money goes to charity. I remember that when L.A. weekly wanted to interview me, they bought that off of my website. I turn on the television, and quickly fall asleep.
