Athena had been fighting her entire life. Her father had trained her to be a killer...and when she didn't fall in line, she was punished horribly. Scars still marred her body, both physical and psychological. Part of her wanted to feel guilty about paralyzing the bastard. But the other part of her knew it was the most logical way to take him out without killing him. Because she was weak...she wasn't like her father.

She couldn't mercilessly kill anyone for any reason.

That was what she thought.

But now, even though her body was failing her, and she was sure she would collapse any second either due to fear or sheer exhaustion, she faced the one man she held true malice for. "You say you want to save us...you say you want to protect your people...and yet you were a jealous, spiteful brother." She shouted over the storm that roiled around them.

Adastros' blue eyes sparked with rage; his long blond hair pulled tightly into a braid that mimicked his brother's. The black armor that was fused to his skin flickered with electricity, pure energy that arced high and struck the ground, singing it black. Aside from the armor, he wore only a pair of leather pants that were torn in several places. "Don't you dare speak of our past as if you know anything!"

"I know people like you! I grew up with them. People that are jealous of others' power, and so try to diminish them. I know what you've done. You tell yourself that you killed your father, and took over the Syndicate for some righteous crusade, but that's not the real truth, is it? No, you killed him because he favored Kyn. You wanted to take charge, to be above your brother for once. And he was kind enough to follow his brother for a full year before he realized how utterly insane, you'd become."

Tears welled in Adastros' eyes. "Th-that's not true! I-I-I love my brother. He's given me no choice."

She snorted derisively. "Bullshit. You claim to be some savior, but in truth, you're just a child making play that he's a god. You fiddled with powers that you couldn't begin to understand, and it's come back on you ten-fold. Kyn is far superior. Had he been the one to take over, I bet Godkin would have already been accepted, all without a war. You seek war because of your personal indignance and nothing else. You're a child!"

Adastros growled. "I am not! I-I'm a god! I-I'll destroy humanity. I'll slaughter them all!"

She glared at him. "See? When did your goals shift from saving the Godkin to destroying the humans?"

He tensed. "Wha-no. I—I—"

"Face it, you're not in control here. Whatever you made a deal with, whoever you made a deal with, has been playing you from the beginning. They're in control here. Not you."

"No! No! I—I'll—I'LL KILL YOU!!" He bellowed. He sent a blast of lightning at her. She rolled to the side, despite the pain it wrought. Her body was breaking down. The nano-suit on her body was practically the only thing holding her together at this point.

Athena used her powers to manifest an RPG—or a Rocket Propelled Grenade—and then fired it at the deranged god before her.

Adastros sent a telekinetic slice through the air, cutting the missile in half. It flew past him and blew up, the explosion absorbed by the storm's howling winds. "All talk! Human weapons are all you can muster! And Onyx said you were the most dangerous of The Shredders! HA!"

Adastros teleported to stand in front of her. He raised the Angel Blade, then swung it down hard. Athena gasped, rolling back. However, even though the blow had missed her by several inches, the sheer force of the blow blasted her backward and knocked the breath from her body.
