::Author's Note:: This is my short story that I had to write for English class. ALL credit is mine. There are 10 words that you may not understand because we had to use them in the story. Please look them up in a dictionary if you want. Not sure if I should make this into an actual story, so read and comment what you think please. :)

The Chase

I tried to quickly hide as he was approaching. He had a relentless look on his face as he saw me. I cursed under my breath. I was quavering as I tried to hold my breath. This is it.

I had no time to run because I was too busy squandering my precious time. What is he holding in his hand? I wondered. He was only a few meters away now; watching me as I stared at him with my dilated hazel eyes. I did what the only thing on my mind was: Run. But it didn't matter how fast I ran because he was always right behind me. I could taste the reeks of sweat run down my face. I was tired. I ran at least half a mile. I turned around and he was gone.

To cool off, I walked over to a nearby rivulet. I splashed the cold but relaxing water onto my tan face. The sun must hate me. There should be a statute about hot weather, but that'd be preposterous. All of a sudden, I heard a noise behind me. It sounded like footsteps. Oh no! I thought. Did he follow me over here?

I recoiled by the sound of a thud. To recoup, I started running again and didn't dare to look back. I couldn't bear to see his staccato like devilish grin. I started to realize that I was losing my balance. Yes. My face met the ground. This is the end. He's going to get me. He wasn't going to make a proponent for me. I turn to see him reaching down. He still has something in his hand. His dark brown hair and ghostly blue eyes met mine. I finally realized what was in his hand.

"Take my hand," he said. "You are covered in mud." What? I thought. Why is he trying to help me? My hand was trembling as I cautiously took his hand for him to pull me up. "You forgot this on the bench back at the park. I just thought I'd bring it to you." He said as he held up my cell phone. "Oh. Uh.. Thank you." I say. I take it and brush myself off. He smiled at me and walked away. I guess even the most intimidating people can be the kindest.
