Hunter POV:
Here we were returning to the middle of senior year. Christmas was the usual. The family was there but never together. It was still cold out so I decided to wear my classiest jacket. Last night mom had told me she had a surprise for me. I went to see what it was but it was no surprise, I already knew she had a car waiting for me. This is the Pierre Family after all; nothing comes as a surprise due to everyone not knowing how to mind their own business. I thanked mom and went to my room again. Cynthia, the maid was still working around; I saw she was cleaning my room. I dismissed her and told her she could do so tomorrow, there was no need for that now.
"Hunter, you can't go telling maids they don't have to do their job, that's what they're for." Dad said. I rolled my eyes.
"Listen, Cynthia works too much around here. Sometimes she needs a little time off." He was ignoring me, oh what a surprise.
"Go get ready for bed, tomorrow you return to school." He took off. I closed myself in my room.
See my family is always this huge stereotype, I bet if you'd hear me talking about them, you'd think I'm describing some rich parents from a movie. Little do you know, they're exactly the same to ones. I was looking down while heading up the stairs and bumped into someone.
"I'm so sorry, I have my mind elsewhere." She said.
"Don't worry." When I looked up to see who I had just bumped into, it was no other than my best friend. Blake Collins. You see the Collins were like that family that everyone hated, yet they wanted to be them. The Pierre's and Collins' use to be great enemies, that was till my father and Blake's father had signed a contract and worked together to save some industries that were beginning to get bankrupted.
"Hey Blake."
"Hi Hunter, so what'd you do this week without me?"
"Well other than listen to my family whine about how it wasn't a perfect weather to go to Paris, nothing."
"You're kidding right?"
"No they did whine about that."
"No I meant, you didn't do anything?"
"Nope, not at all."
"Sometimes you can be really boring Hunt."
"Well that's why I have you, to liven things up."
"I have been told I'm the life of the party." She smiled.
"So, how about you? What'd you do?"
"Well I've been speaking with this guy over winter, so I met up with him once or twice."
"Uuu little Blakey has a man."
"We're just speaking; I don't really know how I feel about this one."
"But that's what you say about them all."
"True, but I always have my reasons, which at the end, turn out to be true."
"You are such a pessimist."
"I'm just trying to protect myself."
"A little too much, Blake."
"Yeah whatever."
"So when do I get to meet this faceless and nameless guy?"
"I'm meeting with him again this afternoon after class. Want to come with?"
"Of course."
"So it's settled."
"I guess."
I forgot to mention, Blake is a really nice person. She may seem like this cold hearted snake but when you get to know her well, you'll see how nice she is. Thing is everyone just wants her for a goodtime, nothing more than that, I totally get why she's always doubting guys, but you can't be thinking all will be the same because you'll miss out on opportunities.
