The Crow: Beginnings

The Crow

There lived a man named Hugo Payne. This man survived the black plague, nobody knows how, but he would tell people, "since the Doctors looked like crows, then crows must protect from the plague!" Once the plague died out and was no longer around, he got rid of all his crows, except one. Said crow, Hugo had quite a bond with. The crow's name, was Talon.

Hugo and Talon lived a many years and everyone knew them, only as the crazy old man, and his pet crow. He met and became highly acquainted, or knowing, of the people whom lived in the small town that he did. Hugo was not very fond of his neighbor. One night, something in his brain snapped. He snuck into the neighbor's house and bashed him to death with his cane, of which was made of an extremely knotty branch piece. The man's brains were splattered all over the floor. Talon then flew in, and started to feast upon the gruesome corpse. Hugo and Talon then left and went home. In later days, Hugo realized that there were many more people, of which he didn't like nor care for. So, Hugo and Talon did to many others that they did to the neighbor. In order to conceal his identity, he would wear a perfect replica, of the doctors suit and mask. He murdered a mass amount of people with his crow. He had never been caught.

One night, he broke into the home of the town's mayor, but, the mayor was expecting him. The mayor had three officers hiding in his home, waiting for Hugo, but as they called him, Doctor Crowley. Hugo and his crow, were quietly heading towards the sleeping chamber of the home, and an officer hit him upside the head knocking him out. To the Mayors, and 3 officers surprise, Hugo had vanished. And the crow did nothing but caw and fly away.

Hugo then wakes up in his bed the next morning, Talon at the foot of the bed. Hugo looks to the night stand and sees a letter. Written in blood, in a very scratchy hand writing said, "The men they dead I kill for love papa" on the other side it says "can live forever together be one". Hugo looks at Talon in fear, but as much curiosity as well. Hugo then says "You... You wrote this?" Talon caws, Hugo says "How do we... Become.. One? Do I have to do anything?". Talon says and does nothing to respond. Hugo and his crow then go about their day as they normally would. Hugo that night goes to sleep, his mind uneasy.

Hugo wakes up, he can't tell how long he slept, but there is a large crescent moon. He looks around to see the mayor and the three officers laying dead on the ground, eyes missing. He looks around to realize he's in the mayors house, once again. He sees himself in the mirror, he's wearing his clothing he would wear to go on his nightly slaughters, his tie now red, and black and red feathers are sporting out of his jacket on his shoulders and out of his hat. He then realizes that he's not wearing his mask. He now has the head of a crow, with human like eyes. He then starts to shuffle in his pockets to find another note, written in blood, once again. And it said " We are we now not know what will happen but know will be hungry ..." his stomach grumbles "... I bring to food". Hugo looks at the mayor, and takes what he's seen Talon do to his own actions. He leaves the home, a new person, with his cane, and the skull of the mayor.

Nobody knows for sure if he still exists, but those who claim to have seen him, call him The Crow. People say he is no longer human, at least in the mind, he still wears what he wore decades ago, even sporting the cane and skull. But other than physique, he is no longer human, in any way. Most call him a gruesome monster, but all call him...
