Autumn woke again, her head was pounding like she was being hit all over again and her back was bleeding the cold, numb kind of blood. She could feel blood trickling down her arm and her left eye was heavy and inflamed. Autumn lay there, helpless she could only see the blue sky above her and the smell of smoke was sickeningly strong however the stench of hot blood was also present. She couldn't help herself, she laid their breathing heavily, 1-2-1-2. Autumn rolled over onto her side. She felt a sharp stab in her side, her arms were still bleeding and she was sure her face and back were too.The battlefield was silent, worryingly silent all Autumn could hear was the crackling of fire and her own breathing which was raspy and heavy. Autumn felt her stomach drop, something was horridly wrong.

Autumn looked around as she rolled over. Dead bodies lay all around her most with swords through them others were severed body parts, some missing heads, arms, legs however all of them where from Autumn's battalion. Autumn felt her sword in its baldric to her surprise it was exactly how she left it. Autumn reached for her sword and stuck it into the ground with all her might and leaned on it forcing herself to stand knowing if she didn't she would face the same fate as the men around her. Everyone on the field was dead every single person except her lay lifeless on the battlefield. The sight was horrid to see.

Suddenly Autumn spotted Matthews clutching onto life, she limped over in great of pain with blood staining the grass underneath her. She knelt down next to Matthew. He turned his head and spoke weakly "Autumn, it's good to see you i'm glad you're going to live i wouldn't have chosen anyone else better to take up our task"

"we're going to do this together" Autumn said tears streaming down her face

" i wish we where" Matthew said breathlessly, a great deal of pain suddenly struck him "take this" Matthew said handing Autumn a small key on a necklace " it will take help you" Matthew said. Matthew spluttered " I'm glad to have known you Autumn you'll be alright, i know you w-will" the last of Matthew's breath left his body and his body relaxed. Autumn respectfully closed his eyes shut  and walked away as if he didn't exist, as if she hadn't known him. You see it was easier to forget his existence than mourn his loss, at least now.

Autumn left the field and limped meekly back over to her tent which luckily still stood unlike the others surrounding it which were heaps of burnt o my fabric and raided rubble . Everything in there had been completely messed up. The whole tent was covered in paper and mud everything carelessly thrown on the floor in what must have been a careless raid. Autumn didn't much care her tea - even though it was cold- was still there, not split. Autumn sat on her bed wishing she wasn't in the situation and what she had to face, the task ahead of her. She held the little locket Matthew gave her in her palm looking at it. Why would Matthew give her a key and if so there must be a reason but, what did it unlock?

Autumn sat there contemplating this. Suddenly Autumn heard footsteps approach the tent Autumn was too weak to fight so she hid under her bed and watched as a familiar two familiar pairs of boots enter the tent.

Autumn yelled out " What!" when she saw them.

Autumn saw the boots jump back and then look under the bed. "Autumn?" They said in unison. Two faces peeking back at her Autumn climbed out from under the bed staring back in amazement at Jack and James. " but how? i thought surely if anyone was going to die in this battle it would be you two, your absolute blithering idiots?" Autumn said.

"Rude!"
Autumn stared at them knowing there was a reason
"we just kind of hid in a tree" said James ashamedly

Autumn rolled her eyes. "of course, well if you're here you may as well help me, get those cloth over there i need to bandage my arms and my back" Autumn said.
