I GASP, LIKE AS IF I WAS OUT OF AIR. Sharp, metallic pain shoots up my back and through my body, causing me to scream in pain. That's when I opened my eyes.
I was in a big room, curled up in a ball on a full size bed. The room was one I never been in; never seen in my life. It had two beds-only one made- and took up most of the space. A wooden desk sat facing the wall, right beside a window to my right. I allowed my eyes to wonder around while trying to recall what happened anytime recently. Frustrated, only the basics came to mind.
My mom and I live on planet known as Mars, or sometimes called the Red Planet. What I been told is that planet Earth was getting way too crowded, and many people needed to be scooted off. And that's exactly what people did. This was called the Starry Migration.
So, when my great grandpa lost his job on Earth, he moved to Mars along with thousands of others. While on Mars, he got married and had one child. 47 years later, he died. Great Grandma followed two years later. This is all I ever been told.
My dad...he was killed on a train wreck when I was five. The "officials" wouldn't let us see his body, and we feared they never even found it. I shudder at the thought.
Someone banged loudly on the door to the room and I stood up, no longer in my thoughts. My whole body ached as if I ran a marathon.
That person banged again, and I jumped back, eying the door. "Who is it?" I shout at the door.
"My name is Alvin. You're name is Stephen, right?" The voice on the other side sounded trustworthy enough to know my name, so I reached for the door handle and pulled it open.
A man probably in his twenties was holding a paper, smirking. "How are you managing?" He had brown hair, a strong body, and a tight red shirt.
I cleared my throat and squeaked a weak, "Where am I?" I wasn't expecting a actual answer.
"Welcome to Asect. I will be here to train you, and help you get use to these strange areas."
I fall back onto the floor with a thump, and slipped out of reality.
