- Neo-kun, I would... I wanted to... I want to tell you something!
Under the tall sakura trees that covered the ground with millions of light pink petals stood two reasonable people: a young brown-haired guy in a Kyo Academy uniform and a beautiful girl with two fox ears on her blond head and a pair of nervously twitching tails behind her back.
The young girl blushed and tried not to cry - it was so hard for her to confess her love to her lover.
What if he refused? What if he would not understand? What if he has someone else?
Hundreds of thoughts quickly replaced each other, winding up the already difficult state of the girl. Mizuki wanted to scream and growl with emotion and her "childish" fear, but she was determined to end it all today.
She confesses. No matter what! Not against her grandfather's possible words, not against the fact that the guy standing in front of her is human, not against the possible rejection... she must end it all today.
The girl knew that she was already dragging her feet on this too much. She knew she couldn't take any more of this strange, silly, and very painful emotion.
First love... it is like that. Stupid, unbearable, sometimes fleeting, sometimes all-consuming to the point of insanity.
With Kitsune, it's much harder. If they have chosen a partner, it is for life, and rejection or the breakup of a relationship they endure very, very hard. But time can heal even a broken heart.
Even a broken soul.
- Right, Mizuki-chan? - The boy smiled. Softly, like a breeze. Softly, like a warm spring ray. The way he smiled only for her. For the silly girl in love with soft fox ears.
Mizuki truly believed that this beguiling smile belonged only to her. She didn't want to hear the signals and arguments of reason, and why should she? Right now the girl's heart fluttered at every memory of Neo. She was getting her dose of happiness just standing next to her lover.
And it was beautiful.
- I wanted to tell you something. - The girl said it again, looking at Maury with those golden eyes. - Would you listen to me?
The boy raised an eyebrow questioningly and nodded, then stepped a few steps closer and adjusted his glasses.
- Neo, I... I've wanted to tell you this for a long time. It took me a long time to choose words and phrases and more. Eh, I even made up a poem, then tore it up and burned it, tried to write a letter, n-well... I did a lot of things. - Kitsune grimaced at her shaky voice, then sighed wearily, letting out all the accumulated tension with her sigh.
A breeze flew over the girl and the boy's head, picking up hundreds of petals and spinning them in a magical circle around the two intelligences.
- I... I love...!
Mizuki was interrupted by Neo's ringing phone. The sharp melody of the orchestra startled the girl, and with the edge of her consciousness she noted that the melody was by Mozart, "Requiem Kirie," to be exact.
The girl immediately dismissed the silly thoughts and cursed in her mind, for someone had interrupted such a magical moment.
A perfect moment!
Just when she got her act together, even used wind magic to twirl the sakura petals in the air. Just like the shows she watches. It was this very moment of such magic that had to be interrupted!
It made her want to kill the caller John Doe!
The guy answered the phone, listening, as Kitsune's bestial hearing noted, to a male voice. Something of a worried and sad voice, slow and steady.
