CHAPTER 6 – THE DAY-OFF

IT'S SATURDAY and it was supposed to be her precious day-off. But here she is, crouching in front of the toilet bowl, emptying her stomach from last night's dinner.

The bile kept rising up her throat but she's has nothing to throw up anymore. She was sweating a lot as she sat on the bathroom floor.

There's definitely something going on with her body these past few days.

She wakes up later than usual when she was supposed to be a morning person. The smell of her favourite coffee from TEEWS café is making her nauseous and she's been craving a lot of blueberry cheese cakes which have been all wasted because she's having this stupid vomiting every morning.

And she's not naïve to not know what exactly is going on.

'But how is this possible? He's barren... He even took a second opinion but the result is still the same.'

Though she's not sure about her hunch either. What she's thinking might not be it. She needs to get herself checked.

She took a deep breath and placed her palm on her stomach. "Baby? If you're really there, stay with mommy okay?" She whispered to herself. She chuckled. She's not even sure if she's really pregnant or not, but here she is, talking to her baby like it's really there.

But she can feel it. It's there.

SHE DECIDED to go shopping for some groceries today since her refrigerator is almost out of stock. She was currently browsing in the meat section when her phone rang. She took it out of her denim overalls and she saw Mateo's name on the screen.

She accepted the call and places her phone on her ear as she continues to check for good meat for her curry tonight.

"Yes Sir Mateo?" She greeted.

Mateo on the other line sighed as if irritated, "Mia, how many times do I have to remind you not to call me Sir anymore."

She chuckled. "Sorry Mateo, I'm still getting used to it."

A lot has changed ever since the day Tsukki's visit. Especially on Mateo...

He became clingier on her than usual. And she felt as if he was always supervising her. But she's not complaining though. She kinda likes it actually, although it could be irritating sometimes.

"By the way s---...I mean Mateo, why did you call? It's my day off today. Do you need anything?"

"No...I don't need something...I need someone." He whispered but she could clearly hear it.

"Really? Who? Do you need me to call that person?"

She heard Mateo sighed again. "Just come to my penthouse now Mia."

'Maybe he trashed his penthouse again.' See, aside from being his secretary. She is also sometimes working for him as a penthouse keeper that cleans up his messy penthouse from time to time. She agreed just for the extra-large salary.

But as much as she wants to see and cling to him right now...she can't.

"I'm really sorry Mateo, but I can't do that today. I have some urgent business to attend to." She had planned on visiting an ob-gyne today. She needs to confirm her assumptions. And besides, she can't possibly face him properly knowing that she could be carrying his child.

"Tsk. Is it more important than me?" He asked. 'Apparently Mateo, yes.'

"Sorry to say this Mateo, but it is."

"Alright, I understand. See you tomorrow then...Sweetie." *Beep* Then he hung up.

Her mouth remained agape.
