Part 9:
Hagrid's lesson.
H: 'Everyone gather round the fence here!' he called. 'That's it – make sure yeh can see. Now, firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open yer books- '
D: 'How?'
H: 'Eh?'
D: 'How do we open our books?'
Everyone takes out their copies of The Monster Book of Monsters all of them bound tight shut in a range of different ways.
H: 'Hasn' – hasn' anyone bin able ter open their books?' he said looking crestfallen
The class shakes their heads.
H: 'Yeh've got ter stroke 'em.' said Hagrid taking Hermione's book and demonstrating to the class how to stroke their spines.
D: 'Oh, how silly we've all been! We should have stroked them! Why didn't we guess!'
H: 'I ... I thought they were funny.'
Y/n: 'Ahh yes very funny. Chewed up all my favourite books this thing did. Left them in ruins.'
Hp: 'Shut up both of you.' He said quietly.
M: 'What was that Harry, we can't hear you. You'll have to speak up.' He said laughing.
Hp: 'I said shut up.' He said slightly louder.
D: 'Careful, Potter where's a Dementor behind you – '
Harry spun round and when he saw nothing and turned back all three of them had there hoods up and hands outstretched. Making scary noises and laughing.
Just then Hagrid came back with a dozen large half bird half horse animals trotting along behind him.
H: 'Hippogriffs!' he announced proudly 'Beau'iful, arn' they?'
Everyone stared in awe and fear at the giant animals.
H: 'Right – who wants ter go first?'
Most of the class backed further away in answer. The hippogriffs were tossing their fierce heads and flexing their powerful wings; they didn't seem to like being tethered like this.
H: 'No one?' he said with a pleading look
Hp: 'I'll do it'
Harry climbed the fence and after bowing to the hippogriff, mounting it, and flying round the lake he was back on soiled ground.
Y/n: 'Oh well I was hoping he'd fall off but never mind.'
Then Draco began to strut over to Buckbeak.
D: 'this is very easy. I knew it must be if Potter was able to do it ... I bet you're not that dangerous at all are you? Are you, you ugly great brute?'
Then suddenly the creature slashed out at Malfoy in one quick flash of steely talons and then Draco was on the floor. A few seconds later Pansy was by his side. Malfoy was squealing.
Y/n: 'On a scale of one to ten how bad do you think he's really hurt?'
M: 'Knowing him probably only two tops. He'll be fine.'
Y/n: 'Yer. I'll go help Pansy.'
