A new week begins in our beloved society and it is worth noting that the Queen's Ball in her gigantic palace served no other purpose than to find not one but two diamonds of the season, something unheard of.

Many mouths dropped to the floor when the Queen herself addressed Penelope Feaherington, saying that she would certainly have been a top diamond had one not already been named. There were also shocked faces when the young lady was seen dancing with Lord Fife and this season's most eligible bachelor, Lord James, who was seen visiting the Featherington House in the early hours of the morning.

Will this be the beginning of what we normally know as courtship?

Will we finally have a happy ending for a Featherington this season?

Yours sincerely, Lady Whistledown.

If there was one thing Penelope noticed when she saw Lord James enter, it was the intense gaze he was wearing, those eyes seemed to be from another world.

Lord James is a pleasure to receive you" Penelope offered Penelope a seat "Varley, bring something for the lord".

Varley left the room and Portia stayed just enough distance away to keep an eye on them but not intrude.

"I see last night was no fluke," smiling the gentleman.

"What do you mean my lord?" asked Penelope.

"That you still look as beautiful as you did yesterday when you was dancing with me... More I dare say," confessed James.

Penelope blushed instantly and knew that this was not a good thing because he would realise that he had succeeded in his purpose to impress. They sat on a sofa near the window, the people walking by could see them easily.

"Please my lord, forgive me," said Penelope almost pleadingly, "I don't want you to see me like this."

"Smiling because a gentleman has praised your beauty? In any case, please keep smiling. It lights up the whole room with your smile" Penelope had to look away because she could not hold it "I have brought you some flowers" he said handing her a bouquet of flowers.

Penelope walked over to the flowers to smell them better as she saw through the Windows and noticed that Colin Bridgerton was watching her from the doorway of his house. She stared at where Colin was standing and her face paled so that Lord James noticed.

"Miss Penelope, if you are unwell, we can talk further tomorrow," he suggested worriedly.

Penelope swallowed, "The truth is I am a little dizzy. But please continue. What I need right now is company," the young woman confessed.

"May I call you Penelope?" she nodded hesitantly, "I need to be honest with you."

"Go ahead, my lord," Penelope encouraged him.

"I don't know exactly why I came here today. But what I do know is that I want you in my life one way or another. I feel that you are too valuable a person to lose."
