A terrible nightmare chapter 2

Y/n wakes up a bit shaken. She still can't believe what just happened, is it a dream? Or was it a dream? She pinched herself. Nope... not a dream.

She got up and makes her way out only to meet Ruka in the hallway.
"Oh good morning y/n, your up early" she said.
"Good morning Ruka" She said and made her way past her.
"My child" Ruka started.
"Where are you going?"
Y/n looked at her a bit confused.
"Um... home?"
Ruka's eyes widened.
"Oh you poor child, y/n... how do I put this..."
She was confused, the thing that happened yesterday was just a dream! Right? Demon don't exist do they?
"Y/n, yesterday... your house was attacked by a demon"
No.
She didn't want it believed it.
"What? No, no. Ruka that was just a dream" y/n said and made her way to the end of the hallway refusing to believe it.

"Y/n...." Ruka follow her to the hallway, she got in front of her and y/n tried to move past her, but she didn't let her.
"Ruka? Can you let me pass? I need to go home, my mother is probably worried." She said.

Ruka didn't move, she just embraced her with a hug.
"Y/n.. please, they are gone...."
"No, no what are you talking about?!"
Ruka looked her with a sad smile and y/n realized that.... They are gone.
"T-they are... gone... aren't they" she said while choking on tears.
"You poor child" Ruka said and hug her tightly. Y/n hug her back choking on her tears and tried to process what happened last night.
It hits her like a rock, images flowing back from the night before only makes it worse.

Ruka pick y/n up and walks to the guest bed again.
"It's 6 am, you need to sleep at lest two more hours" she said while tucking y/n in the guest bed. When she was about to leave y/n said:
"Wait? Ruka?"
"Yes?" Ruka looked at her.
"Can you... stay for a bit? Please?"
Ruka smiled.
"Of course"

Ruka stays at y/n side until she fallen asleep, stroking her head to make sure she's not leaving her. When y/n is finally asleep again she walks out.

Ruka walks to cheek on her two boys to find that Kyojuro isn't in his bed. She look around to see him standing outside y/n's dorm. She walks up to Kyojuro.
"You know it's bad to peek on someone Kyojuro" Ruka said, Kyojuro a little spooked by his mother's appearance said:
"Sorry mother! I just herd noises and wanted to make sure she was okey!"
Ruka though for a moment and then smiled.
"You care for her don't you?" She said with a smile. Kyojuro now looking like he said something embarrassing just nodded and went back to his dorm to go to asleep.

"My, my" Ruka though to herself. Maybe she was the right one.

Time passed by and y/n woke up three hours later. She now knows that what happens last night was in fact real and that demons do exist.
She got up and walked out the dorm to find Ruka outside hanging up laundry.
"Oh good morning y/n!" She said with a smile.
"Good morning Ruka! Again" y/n said with her best efforts to put up a smile.
"Where are the brothers?" Y/n asked looking around.
"Oh they are over there" Ruka said and pointed against the corner of the house.
Y/n thanked Ruka and went over the corner to see the two boys practicing with wooden swords, well Senjuro didn't really do anything he just waved with the sword when he saw y/n, almost hitting Kyojuro in the process.

"Woah! Senjuro! Easy with the sword! What are you looking at?" Said Kyojuro. He turns around quickly when he saw y/n.
"Oh! Y/n! Good morning! How are you feeling?"
Y/n looks at the older brother standing in front of her. She could feel a slight change in the atmosphere, like something warm and reassuring fills up inside of her.
She could feel and now see a slight aura shine from Kyojuro.
"Um... better" y/n manage to get out while trying her best to put on a smile like before but it failed.
"Y/n are you okey?" Kyojuro move a bit closer.
"Oh I-I'm fine! I was trying to smile but I guess it didn't go so well?"
Kyojuro laughed a little.
"There is not need to force a smile y/n!"
Y/n did then put on a natural smile by Kyojuro sentence but it quickly disappeared.
"What are you guys doing?" She then asked.
"Oh? We are training! Or I am. Senjuro is just here because he wants to, he is a little bit to young for this training."

"Training for what?" Y/n said.
"I'm training to become the next flame hashira!"
Kyojuro said with a big smile.
"Hashira? What's that?" Y/n said tilting her head.
"A hashira is the highest rank among the demon slayer corps!" Kyojuro said while raising his hands.
"Demon slayer corps? Wait do you fight these demons?" Y/n said with a little spark in her eyes.
"Yes! Exactly, the demon slayer corps hunt down and destroy demons to keep humans safe!" Said Kyojuro while taking a battle stand.

Y/n and Kyojuro talked for a while about what the demon slayer corps did and the more they talked about it the more y/n wanted to join.

"What are you two kid talking about" Shinjuro said, coming out form the house.
"Oh! Father! Y/n and I talked about what the demon slayer cops did and I think she wants to join!" Shinjuro stopped what he was doing and looked at Kyojuro and the at y/n.
"So you want to join the corps aye?" He said while smiling. Y/n nodded happily.
"I want to protect the people that can't protect themselves!" She said putting her hands in her waist.
She wanted to protect the thing she had lost too.
She puts a hand over her chest.
"I, y/n, l/n swear that I'll do everything in my power to protect humanity from demons! I'll do whatever it takes!"
Both Kyojuro and Shinjuro stood and looked at her, Shinjuro just smiled and nodded but Kyojuro, sparkles where in his eyes, he just look at her and he couldn't say a thing. Is he..... in love? He didn't know but one thing was clear. The girl that stood before him was something else, he could feel it.
