Unexpected.

That's the only word that comes to mind as Brakka strides toward me and enfolds me in a tight embrace.

"I know this must be difficult for you," he murmurs softly, his voice filled with empathy. "I am sorry, but right now, there is nothing we can do to change your fate. This is your destiny. If you truly do not want to do this, then I promise you, I will find a way to get you back home."

We stand there for a few moments, his comforting presence a balm to my troubled thoughts.

"I will do this, but when we find a way home for me, I will go," I declare, my voice tinged with determination despite my lingering doubts.

"How about this: you sleep on it for now, and we will talk again in the morning?" Brakka suggests gently.

I nod in agreement, and together we set out to find my new bedchambers.

After changing into the nightgown conveniently provided in the closet, I settle onto the surprisingly comfortable four-poster bed.

"Goodnight. I hope you sleep well," Brakka says softly before turning to leave.

"Goodnight," I reply, my voice barely above a whisper as I pull the covers snugly around me.

Brakka nods reassuringly and departs, leaving me to grapple with my thoughts in the dimly lit room.

The night passes fitfully, my mind restless with worry and uncertainty. Sleep eludes me as I toss and turn, longing for the familiarity of my own bed.

Morning arrives too soon, heralded by a gentle knocking on my door.

"Your Highness, it is time to rise. May I come in?" a voice calls from the other side.

I rub the sleep from my eyes and sit up, momentarily disoriented.

"Where am I? Oh, right..."

"You may come in," I respond tentatively.

The door creaks open, and a young woman enters, her face illuminated by a warm smile.

"Good morning, Your Highness. We have a busy day ahead," she announces cheerfully as she strides toward the balcony.

Pulling back the curtains, she floods the room with sunlight, momentarily blinding me.

"Not to be rude, but who are you?" I inquire, squinting against the brightness.

"My name is Alice. I am your maid, here to assist you in getting dressed and ready for the day," she explains, her tone cheerful and efficient.

"Ah, I see," I reply, nodding as she guides me toward the adjoining bathroom.

After freshening up, I emerge to find Alice waiting with a carefully selected dress.

"What's on the agenda for today?" I inquire as she helps me into the garment.

"Heine will provide you with the details. He is waiting for you in your study," she informs me, her tone respectful and professional.

"And who is Heine?" I inquire, curiosity piqued.

"The Royal Advisor," Alice replies succinctly.

I nod, and she leads me to my study. As she swings the door open, I step inside and find myself momentarily speechless at the sight that greets me.

The room is a bibliophile's paradise, with shelves lined from floor to ceiling with leather-bound tomes and antique scrolls. A majestic hand-carved wooden desk takes pride of place in the center, adorned with intricate golden accents that catch the light streaming in through the windows.

Standing before the desk is a tall, imposing figure, his silhouette cast in shadow against the soft glow of the afternoon sun.

He has shoulder-length blonde hair cascading in waves around his pointed elf ears, exudes an otherworldly charm that sets him apart from the ordinary. His piercing green eyes, framed by a smattering of freckles across his nose, hold a glimmer of mischief and mystery, hinting at depths yet to be explored.

Dressed in a vibrant red coat adorned with all manner of gold jewelry, and navy leggings that cling to his lithe frame, he cuts a striking figure against the backdrop of the forest. His every movement is graceful and fluid, like a dancer weaving through the trees, and his presence commands attention wherever he goes.

Despite his ethereal appearance, he possesses a flirtatious nature that often lands him in trouble. With a playful smirk playing at the corners of his lips, he delights in showering compliments upon any woman he deems beautiful, his words as sweet as honey and just as irresistible. Yet beneath his charming facade lies a soul that yearns for connection and understanding, a romanticist at heart who seeks to find beauty in every aspect of life.

As he strides confidently towards me, his pointed ears twitching with each new sound, he embodies the spirit of the wild and untamed. He is a creature of whimsy and desire, driven by his insatiable thirst for adventure and discovery. And though his journey may lead him down winding paths and treacherous trails, he faces each new challenge with a twinkle in his eye and a spring in his step, eager to see where the road may lead.

"You are an Elf!" I gasp, the realization dawning upon me.

He chuckles softly, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes as he rises from his seat. "Isn't that obvious? I do have pointy ears."

I feel a flush of embarrassment creep up my cheeks at my own bluntness, but I manage to stammer out a response. "I... uh... yes, of course. It's just... surprising, is all."

He offers a graceful bow and introduces himself with a polite smile. "Nice to meet you, Your Highness. My name is Heine."

Returning the gesture, I reply, "Nice to meet you, too. I am Mailin."

With the formalities out of the way, Heine smoothly transitions to business. "Alright, now that the introductions are done with, shall we start discussing the plans for today?"

I nod eagerly, settling into the comfortable chair behind my desk as Heine takes his seat opposite me.

"Alright, so, for today, we have the preparations for your Coronation, which you must inspect," He begins, his voice steady and composed. "Then, of course, there is the official announcement, which will be sent far and wide all over Auria by our messengers. You must go over it as well and tell the page whether it can be sent out or not. You must also look around the castle and familiarize yourself with your surroundings and see if everything about the decoration is to your liking. Then we must go and meet with the staff members, the maids, the knights and so on."

Feeling a wave of overwhelm wash over me, I groan softly. "Could you slow down? My head is starting to spin. That is too much info at once, man!"

Heine's chuckle is warm and reassuring. "Let us just begin by taking a look at what the Page wrote to address the population with. Does that sound alright?"

I nod gratefully, finding solace in his calm demeanor. "Yes, let's start with that."

Together, we rise from our seats, ready to tackle the tasks that lay ahead.
