CHAPTER 8: SOMETHING ELSE

Elliott's Pov

After Mom cut my call I can't stop worrying. I know Mom got involved with another case and will overwork with work again. For the past 3 days, I can't stop worrying that's why after I landed I went straight to the station where she work.

As I enter, my eyes landed on a beautiful girl who was thinking deeply. She didn't notice me and my stare got cut when my mother screamed. "My baby!!!!,"

She runs and hug me but my focus was still on the girl who already looking at me she went to think again. Leaving me in shock. This was the first time someone ignores me after seeing my face.

Mom keeps blabbering and switches back to working mode. After knowing the case she was working I can't help but feel like something's a miss in this case.

"This might help you to know what the next half of the case is," Ms. Palmer said pushing a phone in front of me.

I took the phone and start reading the messages.

     Good morning, little princess. How's your day? Hope you are ready for what's next. Since starting today, you will become the happiest person alive. Have a nice day~

     Hello little princess, hope you enjoy the show earlier. This will be the start of your happiness. You will never experience any sadness anymore, you will always be happy. Good night my princess.

I felt creepy when I read these messages. In the first message, nothing weird in it but in the second one, I felt creep on it. It's like he's stating possession and also....... obsession. The show that he mentioned, it means the killings. He also keeps mentioning happiness.

I keep looking at her and I know she felt my staring at her since she suddenly flinch but still ignore me. I was smirking inside since I admire her way of ignoring me when she tries to think of answers to her questions.

"Ms. Palmer, what is the last question you asked her?" I asked her since she was the closest to me.

"She was asked what is Lady Griffin's purpose on her?," She answered.

I look at that girl again but she was still thinking. Griffin's purpose on her? Those weird messages? What does he mean about her happiness? Could it be......... he's interested in her? But why does he help someone who he knows will harm her? Why? I can't think of any reason why is he doing this. Wait. Is she also thinking this too? Better ask her then.

"I think this Griffin person is interested in or has a romantic feeling for you," I started. She suddenly look at me and our eyes met. "But the question is, why is he helping this Reaper guy? That's the question running through your head, right?"

"Y-yes," it seems that I hit the jackpot. From her reaction, I can tell that she didn't expect that question.

"If this is the case, then it's troublesome. I can't also think why is he working with this Reaper if he's interested in you, shouldn't he protect you from him?," I express. She looks at me with wide eyes before smirking. What is she thinking? She was about to speak when her phone rang. I gave back her phone and she answered it.

"Hello, Mom?"

"I'm at the police station right now,"

"I'm just giving my statement on them,"

"No no Mom, it's fine,"

"Yeah, I'll come back right now,"

"Hmm,"

"Yes,"

"Bye, Mom,"

She hangs up and looks at Mom. "Captain Li, I need to go now. My mother wants me back at home," she said.

"It's okay, just make sure if he message you again, tell us. Even if it's something you realize, tell us. We want to help you here," Mom said.

"Captain Li, the reason why I didn't tell you anything the first time we met was that Griffin is watching my every movement. If I tell you anything, he will immediately tell Reaper to get rid of you since he was the one who's supplying Reaper with the bullets. That's why I focus on Reaper getting caught since he's the biggest hurdle in this case. Now that he was out of the case, it will be easier to find Griffin. So you don't need to worry, I'll tell you if I found something else or if he messages me again," I can't help but smile at her response. In this world, you will never manage to find a girl that answers like her. She answers with logic and not common sense.

"So, it seems that Scar caught your attention," I look at Mom who had a teasing smirk on her face.

"Huh?," I asked.

"Do you think I didn't see how you look at her earlier? Ever since you came, your eyes keeps looking at her. If not, stealing some glances at her. So, is she your type?," F**k, I got caught. I forgot that nothing can escape Mom's eyes.

"No, mom. She isn't. She just peak my interest," I answered.

"Your interest?"

"He means that girl is quite different than other girls he met. That's why our son is interested in her," we look in the direction of the voice and saw Dad smiling at us. "What? Are you not going to hug your father?"

I immediately went to him and hug him. "I miss you, Dad," I said.

"I miss you too, son," we broke the hug and look at each other. "So, can you tell me why are interested in her?"

"It's nothing, Dad. Her ways of thinking just caught my attention. Also, she just look at me twice. And that twice is just when I arrive and when I gave my opinion about the case. That's all," that's right, if it's the other girls they're probably eye-f***ing me.

"Well, if you two ended with each other, make sure to tell me. I will definitely make you two marry fast,"

"DAD!!!"
