Me and my best friend have known each other since childhood and our mother's are really close friends. After passing middle school and high school together we had both moved away to different colleges. We still kept in contact though. We hangout every weekend and would both get coffee on a Friday and then run to class while make up an excuse for being 20 minutes late. Although it was really fun, I hated being so distant from her, she was my other half that just made life feel so much better. After a few years a college we both had a relationship and spent less time together. Although our boyfriend's had ended up breaking it off a few months after and we decided to get back into contact which each other. We were constantly there for each other when our parents had both passed away unfortunately and stayed the single life while working many different jobs. She mentioned a few jobs like a coffee barista, teacher and a few others but she hated them all. I had said that I also hated all my jobs as well and wanted something new and exciting. We decided to grab coffee like we always did together on a Friday and we planned our perfect future jobs with each other.
"Hey.. you know.. it would be really fun if we started a business together?" She said to me curiously. Her black nails tapped her coffee cup as she gazed out the window.
"We should sometime. I have some spare money from you know... My rich parents" I said to her passionately and excitedly about her idea.
We both had come with an idea to open a small but cozy bar together at our favorite spot in town, which used to be a small pizza shop, although it was closed down and nothing had been built there yet. She looked over at me and thought it was a good idea.
It took a lot of effort for the bar to come together but we luckily got the spot and immediately spent everyday and every minute with each other. Having a blast while watching our bar slowly come together. It was magical, Perfect even. Once the bar was finally finished we were able to find a few really kind people as our staff.
A few months have passed now and our bar has really paid off, everyone loves the bar and it offers some of the best comfort meals you could think of and our specially made drinks.. unless you're just a normal person wanting to drink something you would usually find, we had those too. Me and my best friend decided to take a late shift and let our workers have a break. After we had closed the store a little later then we would usually do. We packed up everything and decided to try out a few of our own drinks we had on the menu, acting like customers and complete idiots the more we drank. After a while we stumbled out the bar and locked it up. We somehow made our way to the woods and decided to climb some really tall trees. We laughed and giggled like little children as our feet swayed in the wind.
Well, I do have to admit as kids, we were never allowed in the woods, we always heard it was dangerous and there was monsters bigger and worse the ones in our dreams. Jokes on my parents though, my monsters in my nightmares as a kid used to be pink and fluffy and I would find them under my bed playing with my other Barbie dolls. But funny enough there was no monsters just a really windy night.
We went to our apartment and fell onto our massive Queen sized bed.
"Today was so much fun" She mumbled to me while stuffing her face in her pillow and drifting off to sleep. I kissed her forehead and took a lighter and cigarette from my back pocket. I stood on the edge of the balcony, and I was leaning on the railings. As I heard my best friend snoring in bed I laughed and suddenly had seen rain drops fall from the sky.
"It's pretty cold outside." I said while I stomped on the small piece left of the cigarette. I pulled my phone from my back pocket while walking inside and closing the door and windows. I saw it was 2:34 in the morning although I wasn't as tired. I would've thought the alcohol would've affected me but it didn't.
