Chapter 31

On the day of the recruitment examination for the state-owned Grain Company, Zhang Jianjun woke up early to prepare. Although he had a recommendation, there was still a possibility of being rejected if his performance was poor. This recruitment was crucial for his future career planning, so he felt a rare sense of nervousness. After dropping off his son at school, Zhang Jianjun walked to the intersection and boarded a bus to the recruitment site.

Upon arriving, Zhang Jianjun realized that there weren't as many people as he had imagined. Only a few individuals stood anxiously at the entrance of the newly established Grain Company.

Since it wasn't yet time for the examination, Zhang Jianjun didn't rush inside. He stood at the entrance, carefully observing the newly constructed state-owned Grain Company. Even from the outside, he could tell that the company occupied a considerable space. Due to its recent establishment, there were only a few scattered buildings and some warehouses under construction. The entrance of the Grain Company had a single sign hanging, bearing the bold red characters, "State-Owned Grain Company, Hexi District, Donghai City." Although the storefront appeared somewhat rudimentary, the security measures were in place. Four individuals stood guard at the entrance, their posture erect, eyes focused straight ahead.

After waiting at the entrance for a while, Zhang Jianjun heard someone inviting them inside. Once they entered the assigned classroom, someone came in to distribute the examination papers, and the recruitment examination began. After completing the written test, they proceeded to a simple interview, where they were asked about personal and family information, as well as the skills they possessed. This information would facilitate verification to ensure the suitability of candidates for appropriate positions.

Like everyone else, Zhang Jianjun honestly disclosed his circumstances, without the slightest concealment. Fortunately, his identity could withstand scrutiny, and he didn't feel any panic. Although he came from a different background, the original owner of his body had left behind numerous individuals who could vouch for him!

"You must be Zhang Jianjun?" After he finished speaking, a bespectacled, refined-looking man took the initiative to ask, casting a brief glance at him.

"Yes!" Zhang Jianjun nodded, not understanding if there was anything specific he needed to pay attention to. However, after the man asked that question, there were no further actions. It seemed that he didn't have any interest in addressing Zhang Jianjun's doubts.

After showcasing his ability in planning and accounting, Zhang Jianjun was informed that he could leave. The assessment results would be announced in three days, and the names of the selected individuals would be posted on the bulletin board at the entrance.

Since the examination was now over, Zhang Jianjun didn't linger and headed straight for the bus stop. As they walked a distance away from the Grain Company, the people who had taken the examination with him began discussing the test.

"Do you think the questions were difficult? I couldn't figure out a few of them and had to rely on guesswork!"

"That's normal. I didn't even answer one of the questions. Don't worry, we're all in the same boat."

"Hey, did you notice that fewer people were coming for the examination today? This is a government unit, after all!" Relieved of their earlier anxiety, they gradually shifted the conversation to other matters, no longer dwelling on the completed examination.

"It's because this government unit was recently established, that's why there are fewer applicants! This recruitment is limited to locals from Donghai City, and they have strict requirements regarding personal background and skills. Do you really think anyone can just come and take the test? The officials would be overwhelmed." Upon hearing this, one of Zhang Jianjun's companions rolled their eyes involuntarily and playfully tapped the head of the person who spoke with their knuckles.
