Sunoo |After the final bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, I made my way to the detention room after saying goodbye to my friends.
Frustration still gnawed at me, but I knew I had no other choice. As I entered the room, I found Ni-ki already sitting there, a mischievous grin playing on his lips. How come that he's earlier than me?
I purposely chose a seat as far away from him as possible, not wanting to engage in any more of his antics.
I settled into my chair, my mind preoccupied with the upcoming task which we had to do. Ni-ki's presence only added to my irritation, and I tried my best to ignore him.
A few minutes later, our teacher entered the room, carrying a stack of papers. He handed them out to each of us, explaining what we had to do.
As he spoke, I noticed him casting a wary glance in Ni-ki's direction, a clear indication that he was aware of his mischievous nature.
He's probably been here before. The teacher then announced that he needed to step out briefly to copy some things for his own class as well.
"Work well on your tasks and don't do anything nonsense. I'll be right back."
As he left the room, I felt a sense of unease settling over me. Being alone with Ni-ki was the last thing I wanted, given the tension between us.
I tried to concentrate on my task, which consisted of reading a text and then answering questions about it. The only problem was that the text was 2 pages long. It's impossible to finish it it one hour.
The silence in the room was thick, broken only by the sound of pencils scratching against paper. Ni-ki's presence felt like a weight on my shoulders, his mischievous aura hanging in the air.
I stole a quick glance in his direction, finding him smirking as he didn't even care about doing the task. It irked me that he seemed so unaffected by the situation, as if it were all just a game to him.
Determined not to let him get the best of me, I focused on my own work, pushing aside the distractions.
Minutes turned into what felt like an eternity as I continued. The tension in the room was palpable, a silent battle of wills between Ni-ki and me. I could feel his eyes on me, his gaze full of amusement and provocation.
10 minutes have passed, and the teacher is still not there. Did he forget us? Im sure it doesn't take that long to print out a few sheets.
As I continued working on my task, trying to block out the distractions around me, I felt a sudden shift in the air.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ni-ki stand up from his seat and make his way towards me. Dread washed over me as he plopped down in the chair next to mine, his grin widening.
"Hey there, Sunoo," Ni-ki said, his tone laced with amusement. "Having fun with our little detention, huh?"
Ignoring him seemed to be the best course of action, but Ni-ki had other plans.
"You know, Sunoo," he continued, leaning closer to me. "I've been watching you. You're always so serious, so uptight."
I sighed, finally giving in to my frustration. "Why do you keep getting on my nerves, Ni-ki? What did I ever do to you?"
Niki's mischievous grin transformed into a sly smirk. "It's not about what you did, Sunoo. It's about the reaction I get from you. It's entertaining. Besides, there's something about your seriousness that intrigues me."
I furrowed my brows, confusion mingling with my irritation. "Why are you even here? I did your homework for you. Where is it then, hm?"
Ni-ki's eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned even closer. "I don't know. I'll see if I have them with me."
