TEMPEST

"Where were you last night?!" Travis howled as soon as I walked in the door.

"We all thought you died!" Connor shouted with him. Several people in Cabin 11 were staring at me like they couldn't be I was alive (I wasn't).

I stared at them with disdain. "I was in the woods. I didn't like it in here."

"You have to sleep in here," Connor said. "We have rules. You can't be out after dark, everyone goes to bed, unless you're part of the patrol group."

"The woods are stocked with monsters," Travis said. "Deadly monsters. That was super dangerous. And, if the harpies catch you, they're allowed to eat you."

"Peachy," I remarked.

"Do you even have a weapon?" Connor asked, eyeing me suspiciously.

"I didn't need one. There weren't any monsters."

"None?" Travis frowned, staring at me. "We can detect lies, y'know."

"I'm not lying, asshole," I hissed, which made Travis flinch. "I didn't see any monsters. I was just at the creek."

"All night?" Connor said.

I glared at him. "How about you stop asking me questions and leave me alone?" I shoved past them and found the only bag I had when I came to Camp Half-Blood. I rooted through it, finding that all of my money had been stolen. Go figure. I didn't even try to pursue it. I'd just get some more later.

"Where are you going?" Connor called as I left the cabin, throwing my backpack over my body.

"I'm leaving."

Well, I think I made a mistake by saying that. Literally everyone turned to stare at me in shock as I made my way over to the hill with the dying tree. Connor and Travis followed me, saying I wouldn't be safe outside, I needed to train, blah blah blah. I wasn't interested until they said war.

"War?" I asked, turning around. Then, they gave me the whole spiel about their brother, Luke, turning over to Kronos, the lord of time that ate his children, and how Kronos was trying to come back and there was a Titan war on the brink. Then, they explained that a war meant more monsters and it'd be deadly, but, er, how is it deadly for someone that's dead? Of course, I didn't say that, but it was very amusing to me.

"Don't care," I replied.

"WAIT!" Travis grabbed my wrist and yanked me back before letting me go. The dude was fast, I realized. I stared at him, waiting for him to keep on yapping. "Just stay for the chariot race."

"Pardon?"

"Stay for the race," Connor agreed like this was an excellent idea. "It's only in a few days. Stick around for the race. You'll get to see our normal lives, cool things we do, and, more often than not, people get hurt in the chariot races, which is always pretty funny."

I do agree that people getting hurt is funny. Again, you're probably saying something like, But you and your whole family were murdered! You got beat all your life!
