Arc 2: Night Raven College
Chapter 14: House Warden meeting
The Night Raven College entrance ceremony is only a few days away. There are only two days left.
While the students of NRC both dreaded and anticipated the commencement of another school year, an intriguing rumor began to circulate in the academy.
There were reports of a youngster roaming the halls of Night Raven College. It shouldn't bother the pupils because most of the second and third years are familiar with a specific eccentric robot child who is accompanied by the Ignihyde Housewarden.
But it wasn't Ignihyde's younger brother who was the subject of the rumors. The alleged youngster, like Ignihyde's house warden's younger brother, has blue hair. But there was one distinction.
For one thing, the alleged child did not have flaming blue hair, instead sporting normal hair. The person in the rumors wears spectacles and is usually seen wearing blue and white striped pajamas. The blue-haired child was sometimes rumored to be clothed in a professional business outfit.
The majority of Night Raven College students are unconcerned about the rumors that have been spreading. It didn't matter if there was a missing child or a new ghost.
Yet, certain people were piqued, such as Night Raven College's house wardens and vice house wardens.
-------------------------------
When the majority of the dorm house wardens were summoned to the headmaster's office, they were taken aback.
The headmaster called them at the beginning of the last week of August to discuss the impending Night Raven College admission ceremony and the celebration that would be hosted in each of their dorms for the new first years.
It was odd that they were summoned again, given that everything should have been discussed previously.
"Do you have anything important to discuss with us, headmage?"
One of the house wardens who responded to the headmaster's call to his office inquired. This student was renowned for being the smallest among the house wardens, possibly for the second year at Night Raven College. The aforementioned student has red hair and bluish-gray eyes and maintains a stern demeanor at all times.
Crowley sighed as he assessed the house wardens who were currently sitting in front of the enormous and long table and asked the house warden of Heartslabyul Riddle Rosehearts.
"I presume that none of you have informed the House Warden of Diasomnia of this meeting, Mr. Rosehearts?"
"I'm afraid not, headmage; I wasn't able to find Malleus-san, so I did not have the opportunity to inform him."
A tall, tan-skinned man with brown hair and lion ears scowled.
"Tch, as if I care about that lizard."
His green eyes have a trace of irritation despite the languid look on them.
A young man with light gray hair and wavy hair of typical height wore an expression of sorrow.
"I haven't seen Malleus-san since I came back, headmaster."
The second-shortest house warden responded to the same extent. He has short brows and short jagged white hair. His eyes were garnet red, and he was draped in trinkets and jewelry.
"Me, too; I haven't seen him, Headmage! Maybe I should ask Jamil later if he saw Malleus?"
A tall, blonde-haired, and attractive young man also acknowledged the headmaster's inquiry.
"I'm in the same boat, headmage; I didn't see him."
Finally, the last one that responded came from the enchanted floating tablet device. A voice answered the headmaster's query, or perhaps it just whispered to itself.
"Ugh. Why would I want to approach the final boss? Malleus-shi is too frightening, and the Diasomnia is a boss lair."
Crowley sighed when he heard all of the dorm house wardens' remarks. He was used to the Diasomnia house warden missing most of his meetings and the other house wardens' cavalier attitude or indifference to the Diasomnia house warden.
Crowley reasoned that someone with Mr. Andersen's strict and venomous tongue wouldn't be too horrible for these house wardens. But he was worried that when it came to the poison equivalent mouth of the new professor, the egotistical children of Night Raven College might snap. Despite their arrogance and obstinacy, the students are frail. Their frail egos would suffer under the poison lace tongue of Professor Andersen.
A stack of papers materialized in front of the six house wardens at the table with a wave of the headmaster's hand. The house warden of the Pomefiore grimaced as he read the contents of one of the copies.
"Returning the literature subject?"
"It is exactly as you read on the paper, Mr. Schoenheit; the literature subject will be returned in this term."
Crowley observed the multifaceted expressions on their faces. The Scarabia dorm leader had a concerned look on his face. Crowley is aware that the house warden, Kalim Al-Asim, is struggling with his academics, and it is only owing to the Scarabia house vice warden that Kalim's grade has remained stable, albeit average. Knowing Leona Kingscholar, the house warden of Savanaclaw, he wouldn't care about the new subject, and there was a chance he'd skip it.
Crowley decided to clarify things before the six house wardens could raise questions.
"I promised that the returned literature subject classes would be distinct from the previous lessons that were discussed before it was removed years ago; the subject was entirely optional for the third and second years, and it was required for the first years, who were mostly focused on academics, to pursue and attend literature classes."
Crowley added, looking at the house wardens.
"The literature subject marks that the students would earn in the subject would help in the other subjects and, most importantly, in the summoning classes for those second and third years."
Riddle decided to ask the headmaster since the house warden was intrigued.
"Is there any particular reason for that headmage?"
"You are correct, Mr. Rosehearts; your new professor in the summoning classes for the second and third years would be the literature subject professor."
Some of the house wardens were reminded of the current ongoing rumors at Night Raven College when they heard the term "new professor." They quickly made the connection. The alleged ghost child was their new subject lecturer, not a ghost.
"Could we possibly know the identity of the new professor, headmage?"
"Ah, of course! How could I forget? Your new professor's name is Hans Christian Andersen."
Crowley also informed them of the arrival of the upcoming special student and that the new professor had decided to change his mind and be appointed as one of the professors in charge of this year's exams. After the extra subject and new professor were discussed and informed, the headmaster ended the meeting.
After notifying them, the Headmaster vanished someplace. The house wardens were concerned about the new professor. The House warden of Octavinelle Azul Ashengrotto, in particular, has an unusual sense of premonition.
Hans Christian Andersen...
It was inexplicable, but his intuition told him to be cautious of the new professor.
