24 : stress reliever

Hyejin stepped out from her car with a simple white satin dress with spaghetti straps. She already saw Ethan waiting for her at his car, smoking his cigarette.

Ethan flashed a smile when he sees Hyejin walking towards him. In that pretty dress, simple makeup could make all of his attention turned to her. He finished his cigarette before throw it on the ground.

He offered his hand when Hyejin stopped right in front of him.

“Good evening, Hyejin.” he greeted.

“Good evening too, Ethan.” she answered.

He left a small peck on top of her hand and gave a meaningful gaze to Hyejin. Not wasting any time, he welcomed her and let her walked first. Hyejin gladly take a lead.

A receptionist greeted and guided them to the table that had been booking by Ethan. Hyejin looks around and examine the restaurant. She saw a few couples have a little talk while eating.

Hyejin tightened her grip on the clutch. Honestly, she don't know why she agreed to have a dinner with Ethan. Her parents really excited when she told them about this dinner and wanted her looks perfect.

“I know you're kind of awkward at our first meet but I know, slowly, you can open up with me. I'm all ready, Hyejin.” Ethan started a conversation.

“Yeah, I agree with that and I'm sorry if you feel uncomfortable with me.” she replied.

Actually, Hyejin agreed because of Jaeyun. The golden retriever boy acted annoying lately and she just want a stress reliever. Besides, she wants to see how patient Jaeyun could control this game.

And she don't want Ethan to have a bad impression on her. He looks like a very nice guy to hangout with.

“Hyejin, I hope you love steak and red wine. I can't think about other dishes because it's our first time having dinner together.” he said and Hyejin softly chuckled.

“I'm fine with everything as long as it edible. Steak and red wine are perfect combo so don't worry about it. So, let's have a little conversation.” Hyejin tried to play along with Ethan.

Ethan's lips curled up, thinking about what they should talk. He has many but he don't know where to start. Finger lingering on his lips, finding the right questions to ask Hyejin.

He looks at Hyejin's pretty face that flashed by the yellowish light along with a little smile, makes she looks so pretty. He almost lost his focus.

She's pretty.

No wonder.

“I heard from Jake,” her breath hitched hearing that name but Hyejin controlled her expression, “you studied in Seattle along with your friend.”

“Oh, yes. I studied there before because I want some experiences. Study in South Korea is quite hard for me and gladly my parents allowed me. I'd decided to work there but my friend offered me this job.” she replied and Ethan slightly nodded.

“Well, good choice because I meet you here. Jake once said, none of girls he had met were attractive... but... I think... he lied to me. He's gatekeeping you from me, what a good friend!” Ethan slightly slammed the table in playful way.

Hyejin awkwardly laughed, “yeah, good friend.”

Their conversation continued and Hyejin speaks if Ethan asked her and just listened to the male. She took a sip from the red wine and tried to look interested in their conversation because every single time Ethan will mention about Jake nonstop.

Jake did this.

Jake did that.

“Ethan, may I ask you something?” she suddenly interrupted and he nodded, “sure, Hyejin.”

“Are you really close with Mr Jake because everything you talked always related to him?” Ethan immediately nodded and that's all, Hyejin got her answer.

Didn't realised how long they are having dinner, finally it comes to an end. Ethan excused himself to the loo and leaving Hyejin at the receptionist.

Hyejin suddenly wanted to fix her makeup so she went to the women loo. After done fixed her makeup Hyejin walked out while looking something on her phone. Suddenly, she heard a conversation.

“Hey, Jake.”

“Thanks for your advices.”

“Hey no, no I really meant it!”

“She is an amazing woman, I think I like her.”

“Bro, don't put me down like that. She's just a play hard to get, right?”

Hyejin almost gasped but she covered her mouth. Hearing Ethan calling his name and thanked him for gave him advices. What kind of game does he's playing now?

She went to the receptionist and waiting for Ethan. Acting like she didn't heard anything just now. She suddenly became sensitive and feels like she's going to cry anytime soon. Hyejin pulled herself together when she heard footsteps.

“Hey, sorry making you waiting for me. Thank you for tonight, Hyejin. I hope you enjoy our dinner.” Ethan wrapped his arm behind her back, guiding her to the door.

“My pleasure, Ethan. I'm satisfied with out dinner tonight.” Hyejin looks up with a soft smile.

“Sure, see you again Hyejin.”

“Alright.”

She excused herself, went inside the car. Only one destination in her mind now.
