Boruto and Sarada had been friends since they were kids, but they never admitted their feelings for each other. They were always bickering and competing, but deep down, they cared for each other more than anyone else.

One day, they were assigned to a mission together, along with Mitsuki and Konohamaru. They had to infiltrate a rogue ninja base and retrieve some stolen intel. The mission was supposed to be easy, but things went wrong when they encountered a powerful enemy.

The enemy was a former member of the Akatsuki, who had survived the Fourth Shinobi World War and was plotting revenge against the Hidden Leaf Village. He recognized Sarada as the daughter of Sasuke Uchiha, his former comrade and rival, and decided to capture her.

He attacked Sarada with a barrage of explosive kunai, but Boruto jumped in front of her and took the hit. He fell to the ground, bleeding and unconscious. Sarada screamed his name and rushed to his side, while Mitsuki and Konohamaru engaged the enemy.

Sarada cradled Boruto's head in her lap, tears streaming down her face. She tried to heal his wounds with her chakra, but it was not enough. She looked at him with desperation and fear, hoping he would open his eyes and smile at her.

"Boruto...please...don't leave me..." she whispered.

Boruto heard her voice in his fading consciousness. He felt her warmth and her touch, and he wished he could tell her how he felt. He wished he could kiss her and hold her in his arms. He wished he could say sorry for all the times he annoyed her and hurt her.

He opened his eyes slightly and saw her beautiful face above him. He smiled weakly and reached for her hand.

"Sarada...I'm sorry...I love you..." he said.

Sarada gasped and squeezed his hand. She leaned down and kissed him softly on the lips.

"I love you too, Boruto...please don't go..." she said.

They looked into each other's eyes for a moment, feeling their hearts beat as one. Then Boruto closed his eyes and let go of her hand. His smile faded and his breathing stopped.

Sarada felt his life slip away from her. She sobbed and hugged his body, not wanting to let go.

"Boruto...no...no...no..." she cried.

Mitsuki and Konohamaru managed to defeat the enemy and ran back to their teammates. They saw Sarada holding Boruto's corpse and realized what had happened. They felt a surge of grief and anger, but also respect and admiration for Boruto's sacrifice.

They approached Sarada gently and tried to comfort her, but she refused to leave Boruto's side. She clung to him as if he was still alive, hoping he would wake up and tell her it was all a joke.

But he didn't.

He was gone.

And she was alone.
