Centuries ago, Queen Lurline, the mother of all the fairies and the creator of our world, transformed these empty lands into bustling villages, wastelands with rocky structures, and stunning palaces for the people who lived there. These people were known as ancient Nonesticans. They were the only ones who could access this continent, as foreigners could not break through the magical barrier between their world and ours. That was until a human from the other world accidentally broke the barrier between our worlds, leading to many sudden changes.

Lurline left three of her children in every kingdom to control it, for she had many children. These gods and goddesses were all fathered by Avodel, one of the first sky wizards. The most well-known of their children are the three goddesses of Oz: Bedisma (Fate), Carama (Love), and Diedrema (Suffering). These three had dominion over the people living in Oz and them only. No foreigner could be helped or harmed by them. This, however, was not a problem for many centuries as no foreigner had ever wandered into Nonestica.

Within that time, Fate fell in love with a mortal man and had a son named Fortune. When the foreigner unknowingly traveled to Oz, the magical barrier broke, sending a powerful shockwave throughout a valley that sits just before the Deadly Desert. Fortune happened to be in that valley, which is known today as the Valley of Misfortune. His death would be the catalyst that set in motion so much suffering. Fate was heartbroken over the death of her only son and sought revenge on the person who broke the barrier. She supposedly cursed them with this incantation:

"May all the ill in the world come to you and all of your descendants! May they suffer while sick, may they die in despair, and may they be wiped out from our world and theirs!"

With this curse, Fate went beyond her dominion. So, this foreigner and their descendants would suffer immensely, and several would die young. One day, many years in the future, one of these descendants was able to rise beyond the curse through their great heroism. This descendant hoped to break this curse once and for all.

This is the story of that family...
