Victor paced back and forth, taking long short strides. It was graceful but there was an urgency behind the movement.

“Victor, dear…take a seat…please. It’s going to be alright.” Helen said.

He looked at her. He was confused and angry. Helen grabbed his hand and kissed his forehead.

“Remember when we got married? I loathed the idea of monogamy. I tried my hardest to deny we were ever together…and then you let me know it was okay to be afraid of losing you. Well, I want you to know that in time, all things will come to a bitter or a sweet end. It’s never both at the same time and if it is, then I guess I’ve been wrong this whole time. I want you to sit down, drink some blood, and relax. The others will be here soon. I’m worried too.” She said.

And as if it was right on que, they heard three car doors and a motorcycle. Victor smiled at his wife. She always knew when things were going to be alright…of course…an argument came through the door.

“You’re a bastard, is what you are.” Hunter said.

“I’m simply an ally.”

“With your own motives.”

“Will you tow shut your fanged, hissing, slightly unsightly, godforsaken gobs?!”

“Jesus, Hannah…didn’t know you had it in you.” Caleb said as he approached them.

“Well. You’ve got a lot to learn still then.”

“Children of mine. I have invited the helping hand of Ceaser into our home. He should be treated with as much kindness and respect as you would give a brother. I have also invited a Donan and a Xiba. Sylia is on her way from Texas. I must ask that we wait for Hector to arrive until anything crucial happens. Until then, I recommend becoming acquainted with each other. We’re going to be working together until this war is over. You each volunteered to help bring down a clan that is asking for too much. Of course, Hannah, you are welcomed to decide to stay out of this. I will understand that decision. I thank you all for this. Please, make yourselves at home as mine has now also become yours.” Victor said before disappearing into his study.

“I’m glad you’re safe.” Helen said to Tristan and Hannah before following Victor.

“So, you’re Hannah.”

She turned and saw a woman with snowy skin and a black pixie cut. Her smile was warm, welcoming, and her eyes held a light. A light that was also welcoming.

“Yes. Who are you and how do you know about me?” Hannah asked.

“I know everybody. I see all things, hear all things, yet I don’t know all things. I’m a Xiba. We come from a long line of vampire falling in love with psychics. My name is Zelda. I’m Hunter’s fiancé.” She said.

“Oh, well. Congratulations.” Hanna said with a small smile.

Tristan nudged her. She gave him a playful glare.

“Hannah Giovanni.”

She turned towards the Scottish gentleman. They locked eyes for a moment before he spoke.

“You look so much like your mother…”

“You knew my mom? My real mom?” Hannah asked.

He nodded.

“She was a dear friend of mine.” Ceaser said.

“Don’t fall for his tricks…he’s up to something.” Hunter said.

Zelda grabbed his arm.

“Hunter…everybody has the ability to change…”

He glared at Ceaser before going upstairs with Zelda to settle into the guest bedroom that they had previously stayed in when they came for a visit.
