Lily's POV:
Nathan kept pushing away from him, as if I did something wrong, as if I am at fault. All I wanted to do is comfort him, I don't know why... I just wanted to be next to him for some reason, I wanted to hug him.
As soon as I heard that today was his sister's death anniversary my body didn't listen to me, something took over me and I just rushed to him and hugged him like I should have long ago. I couldn't shake off the feeling when he pushed me away, I couldn't shake off the feelings of sympathy towards him and his family for their lose.
I sighed and pushed myself on my bed, my phone began to rang making me groan. I picked up the phone and checked the ID caller, it was the group chat. I ignored it and turned my phone off, "why is everything so messy all of a sudden?" I mumbled to myself and started at the ceiling.
My mind suddenly drifted to last night.
Last night:
"I don't want to carry on with the whole mafia heir thing" Athena murmured out catching me and Ravenna off guard, we both exchanged looks before looking at her waiting for a clearer answer to what she just had said.
I leaned on the bed's headboard, Bellatrix came inside and closed the door behind her before she placed the drinks tray down in the middle of the bed, I passed her a thank you smile and looked back at Athena who was lost in her thoughts. "Me becoming part of this bloodstained world doesn't make sense. Sure, I liked the rush, the thrill of survival, the power that comes with it, but that's not enough." Ravenna nodded as Bellatrix listened carefully.
She had a point there.
"Me too, I have no real connection to this world. Athena and I? We've never even picked up a gun. I don't consider myself a part of all this. Her and I have never been in any kind of scene when Nathan, Josh and Zane were on few or one guy sucking their last breaths. Until we had to stop it. We just stood there watching" she laughed slightly showing no hormones. "With you, it is understandable, you are part of a mafia family, the violence and cruelty is in your blood." her gaze flickered towards me.
Some people get to choose who they become, who they want to be. But me? My fate had been written in blood before I even took my first breath. I would be lying if I said I disagree with what both Athena and Ravenna said about being part of this world I live in, where I was born. It is cruel and... scary.
"Yeah, she's right," Athena muttered, leaning into my side. "We have no real connection to that world, not like Lily and the guys do. I guess I was only trained by Nathan for self defence, but somehow, we just slipped into this mess, like we belonged here... when we don't."
Bellatrix folded her arms, her expression unreadable. "Logically, you two are part of the Hollow Club, just like me. But I think... spending time at the base, training with the guys, watching the violence unfold, it made you feel like you were part of their world." She sighed, shaking her head. "But that's not the reality. The guys would never let you get too deep. They don't want you to be one of them. They keep you close, not because they see you as part of this, but because they'd rather burn the world down than risk your lives."
