"So, she kissed you," Brian asked. "Right on the lips?"
"Yes." I immediately replied. I wasn't sure where Brian wanted to get.
"Are you sure? 100%?" He was concerned. He definitely thought I was hallucinating.
"Of course I'm sure," My eyes narrowed. "No need to remind you that I was there." I was almost offended by the fact that he thought I was crazy. Mostly because he thought a girl like her could never like me. I still don't think she likes me but you never know.
"I'm sorry, it's just... things don't add up, you know? Why would she kiss you and then pretend nothing happened?" That was the question that I had in mind since she kissed me. Things didn't add up. "This morning when I picked her up from her house she was a bit nervous." I thought. "Maybe she was scared I was going to bring it up. I wanted to but seeing her like that made me have second thoughts." I confessed. "I don't wanna spend the rest of the year like that, I'm gonna go find her and talk to her." I sad fiercely to Brian who wasn't listening to me anymore. That was when I realized Nicole was in the hallway and he was looking at her. "You should talk to her too."
"I tried. She doesn't want to go out with me, she made it clear." He had a despondent expression. "You go get your girl though." He closed his locker.
"She's not my girl, yet." I winked at him.
"That's my boy! Make me proud." He said walking towards Nicole.
Before practice started I saw Grace and Nicole sitting on the bleachers so I ran towards them.
"Hey, after practice we'll play." I said firmly.
"You're gonna lose you know that?" She said. Her lips curved into a small smile. She knew what she had done and she was scared.
"We'll see." I told her and ran towards the locker room.

I didn't go change after practice. After Nicole went home, Grace came to the field.
"So, how do you wanna do this?" She took a ball.
"Let's make a bet," I told her with little courage. "If you score, I tell the boys that you won against me and dishonored me,"
"Uh interesting. What if you keep?" She asked. My heart heavy. I had to do this.
"If I keep, I get to ask you a question and you have to answer." I swallowed. She thought about it for a few seconds.
"Okay nerd, game on." She placed the ball on the penalty disk while I wore Brian's keeper gloves.
"Okay Spider-girl, let's see what you got." I told her. She focused and kicked the ball but she hit the crossbar.
"Fuck!" She screamed. She came towards me running. "I want a rematch." She looked at me with puppy eyes.
"You can have a rematch, after you've answered my question." I said and she didn't complain. After all, I did win fair and square.
"Why did you kiss me?" I said all at once. She froze and I regretted asking it. I tried to say something after it but she stopped me and looked at me in the eyes.
"I kissed you," She said while getting closer. "Because I was happy."
"Just because you were happy?" I asked getting even more closer. I took her hand and she didn't object. "So if I kiss you, you won't feel anything, right?" I asked her. Our noses were almost touching. I could feel her heart beating almost faster than mine. I took her face in my hands and kissed her. She kissed me back and for those ten seconds I was in heaven. She pulled back and looked me in the eyes.
"I don't want to move too fast with you. I want it to be perfect. So, Grace Emily Dixon, do you wanna go out with me?" I asked her.
"Yes, but Emily's not my middle name." She laughed. I loved her laugh.
"Was I close?"
"Not even a little bit." And she kissed me again.
