Steve

Steve walked faster and faster almost at a run now trying to get as far away from the Hydra base as he could. He stopped when he could hardly see it. His bruised legs didn't get him very far. But at this point Steve didn't care, he wasn't about to feel sorry for himself. There was still much to be done trying to stop Hydra from destroying more cities and taking the whole world under their control. Steve tried not to think about that part. It seemed that whatever he did he ended up in worse situations. He was doing pretty well getting into the Hydra base.

Steve woke up earlier than usual and opened his eyes before remembering he was in a stranger's bedroom. He quickly got out of bed, the sun seemed to come faster than he thought. However looking through the torn curtains he realized that it was not sunlight but flames that were scorching the sky outside. The smoke from outside filled the small room through the cracks in the glass. He coughed and grabbed his shield before heading out of the apartment he had been staying in. Steve began to walk towards the stairs. The air stung his eyes as the smoke and ash filled his lungs. He walked down the first flight of stairs to the second floor. But something seemed off about the floor below it. The first floor seemed to be brighter than the others. It hit him that Hydra had also set the building he was staying in on fire. The flames were spreading fast and the second floor would soon be engulfed in flames. The air was thick and that made it hard to breathe. Steve quickly climbed back up to the stairs until he was back on the third floor. He had to think of something and fast to get out of this burning building. Jumping out the window wasn't exactly the most inviting idea but he didn't have any other choice. He walked to the other apartments and began collecting curtains from the windows. Most were torn but some were intact enough to be used. He knotted the ends of the curtains together to try to climb down a decent amount so he could jump off.

There weren't nearly enough curtains that were usable so he could climb all the way down. Steve sighed before throwing the curtains out the broken window. He tied the end of the curtain rope around the bedpost of the bed he previously slept in. Steve looked down at the drop below he gripped onto the curtain rope tightly and slid down until he reached the end of it. Before he jumped off to meet the ground a few feet below him he pulled hard on the curtains. He repeated this a few more times before the curtain rope seemed to untie from the bedpost. It fell with him to the ground below. Steve was used to being able to jump from heights; this building wasn't too tall. He landed on top of the curtain rope and dusted himself off. After he reached the burning ground he coughed again. Steve grabbed the curtain rope and threw it into an open window on the first floor of the apartment building. Just as he thought it immediately caught fire. Now if any of the Hydra soldiers came to check on the burned city they wouldn't be able to tell if anyone had been there. He had to find somewhere to wait out the fire that's for sure. Being a super soldier he had a longer air capacity than most normal people but even he had his limits.

Steve walked along the sidelines near the Hydra base in the city. He could feel the cool dampness of the walls behind him as he pressed his back into it to make himself seem less visible. However he knew he couldn't stay in this position for long. Steve had to think of a plan to get inside the only thing he could think of was something that seemed straight out of a spy movie. He didn't have any other options so this had to work. Steve could see the shadow of one of the Hydra guards at the front of the base getting closer and closer. He knew he had to act quickly otherwise he might lose his only chance to get inside. He got in position and as the man came around the corner and struck him hard in the head. Steve was thankful he hit him in the right spot. The man let out a groan before falling to the ground. Steve caught him by the arm and dragged him farther away. He quickly stripped the man of his uniform and put it on. It was a dumb plan but he didn't have any other ideas. Steve then tied the man up against a tree and walked towards the Hydra base. The clothes weren't the most appealing and he made sure to cover his hair. It was hot and sticky but he didn't make any complaints. Slowly and subtly he walked towards the front of the Hydra base. He made sure to look down so as to not make direct eye contact with anyone. Steve held his breath as he walked into the actual base itself. It seemed like a normal Hydra base, however the Hydra symbol on the wall seemed to clash with another symbol, one he didn't quite recognize. It was sort of 'C' that was all he could make of it at least.
