Authors Note: This is a story that I really want to continue until I can come up with a good ending to, and as such I am open to any and all constructive criticism (That doesn't involve explicit harassment, degradation, threats, or triggering comments such as KYS/KMS).
I am more than willing to talk to others for help, and if you have some insight into what I could do better, ideas for the story, or are interested in helping with the development of this story, you are more than welcome to message me through my account for some information if you feel so inclined.
I plan to write these chapters ahead of time then release when I am like two or three chapters past the current chapter, like posting chapter 20 after ive written chapters 21-24.
There is some extra info at the end of this chapter (which is fairly short to what I want) that will talk more about why i dont update as much as I want.

James' eyes slowly fluttered open as a wave of fatigue hit him, opening and closing rapidly to clear away any blurriness possible. He rubbed his eyes, clearing the apparent dream dust in the corner of his eyes before stopping suddenly.
He looked at his hands, turning his palms to and away from him as he glanced at them confused. Though startled by the feeling of tiredness, what confused him most was the fact that he felt tired at all. He was shocked that he could feel his skin stretch as he rubbed his eyes, and the grainy texture of the dust as he rolled it off himself, plucking his eyelashes to remove the pieces stuck to the hair. Why was he feeling this? He shouldn't be feeling things, after all, he was dead. Right?
At least he thinks so. He remembers what happened so vividly.
-----------------------------------------------
He had worked as an officer in Seattle's SW precinct, and one day He and his current partner Ken had been assigned to investigate a disturbance in an abandoned part of town that had become a cesspool of the homeless and illegal activity. He and Ken had come upon a decently sized warehouse that had been worn by the constant rains and storms. As soon as they entered, he and Ken were pulled into a fire fight with some random druggies that had good aim. After managing to either incapacitate- or kill- them, they had managed to apprehend their leader.
That was until James was shot in the back. Ken had apparently staged the whole thing. He hired a bunch of idiot homeless druggies, gave them stolen guns from the precinct, and promised them money if they went along with it. For what? Glory. To be the only survivor in a huge firefight between a pair of cops and 'psychotic drug-dealers that threatened the community'.
As he slumped down a wall, he had a perfect view of Ken's smug face as he played the victim over the radio. He could see the Joy and resentment that Ken felt on his face as he looked into his eyes, ones that were slowly dulling as he lost blood. " You were good, Jay. Damn good. But you were -too- good. Can't exactly have someone like that runnin' around, yeah? Cant have ya, tearin' down all these local businesses these wonderful people have goin' for themselves, so we all came to the conclusion of... heh... giving you an early retirement."
James wanted to talk back, berate him for what he was doing, but he couldn't. No matter how hard he tried, he could barely muster an audible mumble as he began to feel his blood fill his lungs. So he did what he could with what little strength he had left. He gripped his gun and pointed it at his current bastard of a partner, and fired upwards from the ground, striking behind the left knee and busting the cap, making him collapse to the ground in pain. And as he finally felt himself fading, he could hear one last thing from him. "G-Gah! Grrh...! Damn It... should have expected that.... B-But be grateful, asshole.... I'm gonna make you a Martyr, maybe that'll get you happy....."
