April, ????, button house / higham house
captain sat at his desk, holding the letter in his hands. he was thinking about him. oh, how he loved havers. how he talked, the way he laughed. he had admired havers since he met him. but he knew he couldn't tell havers how he actually felt.
soon, his thoughts were disturbed as havers walked in the room, ' havers! lieutenant havers, that is. at ease, at ease,' captain smiled.
havers blinked hardly and something shined in his eyes that captain didn't understand.
' I have something to tell you, sir,' havers said, captain gulped and cleared his throat.
' of course, go on. speak. lieutenant,' captain would nod, gripping the letter in his hands even tighter.
havers hesitated, he ran his hands through his brown hair, trying to find the words he needed to say.finally, he spoke.
' im leaving you sir,' havers finally said, staring at his shoes.
captain's heart shattered into a million tiny pieces at those words.
captain's smile faded into a gasp and he nodded, ' I understand, lieutenant,' he tried to remain serious. the two stared at each other one last time, it was awkward- at least captain thought that. he could've stayed there and fell into havers' eyes for all of eternity. sailing throughwould nod and quickly leave the room, shutting the door behind him. captain stared at the desk, a tear formed at his eye but he soaked it up. he was the captain. he didn't need havers. but he did. he loved havers.
he longed to see havers, to be with havers.
now he was gone, forever.
his heart was shattered. the captain wanted to go with him, to leave the war behind. but he couldn't. he couldn't leave everything behind. he would have to soak up his thoughts. to bury them forever.
captain paced the room in annoyance, muttering inaudible words. he longed to not hide his aching feelings. to have havers at his side as they work their duties together. he faced a pained silence. everyday his heart throbbed at the sight of havers. the way his emerald gaze lit up when captain said something amusing- and oh, his smile. captain let out a silent wail.
he casted a glance at the letter, glaring at it. if he gave the note to havers sooner- he might've not left! " why must you be so cruel to me, world?" he muttered, still staring at the note. anger and sadness burned in his hazel-nut eyes. the distant chatter and laughing from the home made him even more sad, that could me be and havers. he thought. it was too late, havers was gone.
he has to bury the note.
he had to bury his feelings
he had to bury his first love
he had to bury havers
