(This is a very old piece of work, and therefore, I have lost the prompt it is based on. Please do enjoy it anyway, tho)Run, what does it mean by run? It had to be a coincidence. There is no way that the rain was trying to communicate with me, right? Yet as i looked down at the sheet before me, there was no doubting it. Over and over again, the rain was telling me to run. Funny, isn't it? How human beings try to put meaning to everything we see, everything we hear.
After hours of studying, it was soon time for sleep, yet within my mind, a tiny voice was screaming, "You need to run" yet i chose to ignore it, for i would not allow childish fear to keep me awake. Even as the floor creaked underneath the power of nothing, and the air seemed to shift without the help of open doors, i remained still, taking deep breaths as to calm the voice in my head. "Why aren't you running?"
The morning after brought me no ease of mind either, whereas i had earlier heard the rain ask me to run, it was now doing the same at a far more rapid speed. Not a single droplet was out of place, and the rain only grew heavier and heavier, like a desperate woman calling out for her dog after it broke its leash. Like a man in the military screaming for his general to order a retreat. "Run, run, run" It wouldn't stop, it couldnt stop. For Mother Nature had sent her creation out on a mission, and it would do anything to have it done.
Tip tap, tip tap. That was the sound of the bare feet hitting against the cold pinewood floor. Every movement was made with precision and composure. Just like the rain, every tap held its meaning, as the young boy danced within his room, his baggy pyjama pants flowing in the air as his frail body struggled to stay above the flooring. His breath hitching with every big leap he had to make, sweat falling down his chest despite the cold temperature his room held
"Run"
"Why"
"Run"
"Why"
The dance went on for hours, the young boy's stomach growling loudly, but his mind not yet realising that he had forgotten to eat, forgotten to drink. The rising pain in his stomach was yet not recognised as a full bladder and an empty stomach, for he had to remain composed. He had to stay precise so that nature would hear his call
"Run"
"Why"
"run"
"Why"
The pale boy's body felt as if he was floating in the sky. The hunger he experienced fueled him, the pain in his gut, no longer there to be noticed, his feet, slowly beginning to ache, yet nothing had ever felt better, he moved rhythmically, his back and forth with the wind not once changing its pace, nor did it show any signs of wanting to do so any time soon. Yet he danced with the rain, no longer desiring an answer.
Night came, and yet the dance carried strong. The young males body no longer feeling like his own. His mind no longer trying to grasp the situation, no longer wondering if this was wrong.
"Run"
"Why"
The rain was slowly fading, it seemed, the sound no longer being as loud as before. Yet the boy did not wish to give up his dance, for yet he could hear the message loud and clear.
"Run" , the rain whispered, and before the young child could give his response, the wind grabbed a hold of its new friend, finally breaking the cycle.
"Hello"
Let me ask you something. Do you believe that if you were all alone, crashing towards the ground without a soul near your side. Would anyone ever notice? If you crashed into the forest on a weekends start, where nobody expected you to be back before monday morning. Do you believe you would be found before it is too late? Or when they discovered your body, would they know to call in, tell someone its you?
And if you had spent a whole day in your bedroom, dancing. Would anyone come inside to find the big shadow of a person that was currently ripping your skin off your bone?
