As I prepared for the impending visit of the prospective groom and his family, I couldn't resist the urge to dance along to the music blaring from my speakers. "I'm a mf star boy," I muttered the lyrics under my breath, moving to the beat as I got ready.

"How do I look?" I asked Venkat, turning to him for his opinion.

"Horrible," he replied without even glancing up from his phone.

"Thank you very much," I retorted, grabbing my bag and noticing the fairy lights he held in his hand.

"What's with the fairy lights?" I inquired, curious about the sudden decoration.

"They want to spruce up the house," Venkat replied, his attention still on his phone.

With a sigh, I facepalmed before leaving my room. Descending the staircase, I slid down the rail before heading to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.

"Shooting ends today, right?" my mom asked as I hugged my aunt.

"Yep, then next month is another shooting," I confirmed. "So we have a month left," my aunt chimed in.

"I'm definitely not getting married and having every process done in one month. I need to get to know him first," I declared.

"I'll see you guys this evening," I announced before exiting.

"Uncle, give me a high five," I exclaimed, receiving one from him as he continued reading the newspaper.

"The boy is gonna instantly fall in love with her, I bet," I overheard my aunt say.

"So, you're getting married?" Deepika ma'am inquired as I nodded.

"Yeah, well, that's what they're saying. The guy is coming tomorrow with his family," I confirmed.

"My girl is getting married," Shahrukh Khan sir remarked with a smile, pretending to wipe away tears.

"Oh, come on, sir," I laughed. "How does he look?" they asked, to which I shrugged.

"Who knows? They didn't show me a picture. All they said was I know what he does," I replied.

"Ye kya bakwas hai?" he muttered, as I chuckled. "At this age, one should meet, look into each other's eyes, fall in love and then marry. Here it's like Bam! You're getting married," he commented, eliciting laughter from Deepika ma'am and me.

"Anyway, invite us," they requested, to which I nodded.

Shooting wrapped up soon, and I made my way home, only to find the house adorned with decorations upon my arrival.

As my parents busied themselves with preparations for my impending meeting with the groom-to-be and his family, the house buzzed with anticipation. Venkat and I took refuge in my room, the music from our instruments filling the air with a sense of comfort amidst the chaos.

"Seriously, Reethu, you've got to clean up this place. You're meeting your potential life partner tomorrow," Venkat teased, pointing at the scattered belongings strewn across the room.

Rolling my eyes playfully, I joined him in tidying up. We sorted through my shelves adorned with sports trophies and cherished photographs, reminiscing about old memories as we worked.

"I can't believe you still have this cricket bat signed by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni," Venkat remarked, placing it gently in a corner.

"It's a prized possession," I defended with a grin, glancing at the bat fondly.

After clearing off my bed and organizing my cluttered desk, we settled down amidst the newly tidied space. The soft glow of fairy lights cast a warm ambience as we strummed our guitars and hummed along to familiar tunes.

As the evening progressed, my parents returned from their shopping excursion, their arms laden with bags of decorations and sarees.

"You'll be wearing a saree," my mom announced, her voice leaving no room for argument.

"Can't I at least wear my formal shirt and pants?" I protested half-heartedly, already knowing the answer.

My dad chuckled, shaking his head. "You know the traditions, beta. We want everything to be perfect for tomorrow."

With a resigned sigh, I acquiesced, knowing it was futile to argue against the age-old customs.

But as I watched my parents bustling about the house, their excitement palpable, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of nervousness mixed with anticipation.

As the night wore on, Venkat and I found ourselves lost in a whirlwind of emotions, alternating between laughter and contemplative silence. Despite the uncertainty of what tomorrow would bring, there was a sense of unity and camaraderie in facing the unknown together.

As we finally settled in for the night, the gentle strumming of the guitar providing a soothing lullaby, I couldn't help but feel grateful for Venkat's unwavering support and the comforting familiarity of home.

And amidst the chaos of preparations and the looming prospect of marriage, I found solace in the simple moments shared with loved ones, knowing that no matter what the future held, we would face it together.
