"Lennox?"
Jay's voice echoed in Lennox's ears as she stared in front of her. Jay's frown mirrored the one plastered on her face.
"Hey. Can you hear me?" He waved his hand in front of her face, causing her to blink and look at him as he put his hand down.
"Hi. We're here." He looked out of the window, Lennox turning her head to see that they had arrived at her house.
It was just before two, and Jay had driven her home before he was due to head to work to make sure that she was safe. But as she looked at the front door of her childhood home she felt uneasy and anxious, and it was written all over her face. Jay looked her up and down, noticing how intensely she was squeezing her own knuckles with her fingers banded together. He gently put his hand on top of hers.
"Talk to me." He watched her try and speak, but each time she tried nothing came out.
How do you casually mention that you have less than five days left to figure out a riddle that you haven't been able to solve for 2 years before you die? She tried to find a way to get her words out, but the more she considered it, the more real everything became. She was going to lose everything. Her friends, her dad, Jay. And there was nothing she could do about it. The thought terrified her and it showed in her face, but without realising it, she'd turned to look at Jay with that same terrified look.
"Lennox you're starting to freak me out, what's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"
And after some hesitation, it finally came out. "I don't want to die."
She squeezed his hand as he frowned. "What?"
"I don't want to die Jay. I just want everything to go back to the way it was,"
"Lennox,"
"But I don't know how to stop it,"
"Okay," "I just want it to stop!"
"Alright I got you! Lennox I've got you, okay? Everything is gonna be okay."
