*jocelyn* Tony Awards
I woke up with Mike shaking me awake. I groaned and pushed his hands off me. I pulled the covers over my head but hey were pushed down again. Soon after, the blinds open letting in too much sun. I was forced to open my eyes and sit up.
"Wake up, Joss!" He pulled me out of the bed
"Why?" I whined
"Do you know what today is?"
"Saturday?" I sat on a bar stool
"Nope. It's the Tonys! Jeez, I thought you would remember." He pressed a kiss to my temple
Oh yeah. I looked at the clock and saw it was 10:21 am. I would have to start getting ready around 2:00.
"Are we going together?"
"No. Joss, we're gonna arrive separately! Of course we are. I was hoping you could be my date."
"Let me get back to you on that." I walked back into our room and sat with Trixie.
I turned on Netflix and switched it to some random movie while Trixie and I played a bit. A few hours later Mike called me out for lunch. He had made both of grilled cheeses. I was very grateful. Grilled cheese was my comfort food as silly as it sounds. My father always made is for us when he came back from his military stuff. We ate and talked before I had to go get ready. We decided that I would take the guest room to get ready and Mike would take ours.
We had a limo coming around 5:30 so we had about 3 hours to get ready. I retrieved my dress, which Mike hadn't seen yet, my makeup, and my hair supplies and lugged them to the other room. I turned on some music and sat at the bathroom counter beginning my makeup. I did a nude eye look with a light pink lip. I cleaned up the counter and unzipped the garment bag that held my dress.
It was beautiful. It was dark blue with silver stars and dots scattered across it. It had a long slit on the side. The dress came with matching gloves but I didn't put those yet. Once my dress was one, I luckily was able to zip it up using a clothes hanger. I brushed out my hair and put in into a simple bun with a few pieces hanging out.
I checked the time on my phone and it read 5:20. I texted Mike and asked if he was done and he said he was out in the living room. I slipped the gloved on my arms and grabbed my handbag. I stepped into the living room and Mike stood up almost immediately. He looked starstruck. I giggled lightly and walked more toward him. My silver heels clicking in the hard floor.
"Joss, doll, you look really good!" He laughed
I leaned my forehead on his chest and laughed along. He got a text on his phone alerting the limo was here. We were driving to the Winter Garden Theatre with the Pink Ladies and T-Birds. We walked out of our apartment building hand in hand. He opened the door to the limo for me and I greeted everyone inside.
"Jocey! Your dress!" Portia gushed
"Your dress!" Portia wore a white satin dress that went down to her heels. It was simple with a Queen Anne neckline. We all talked on the way to the theatre with joyful tones. Yesterday, they let the nominees in to fin their seats and for the performances to rehearse. Since we were nominated for best revival, we got the opportunity to perform. Georgia decided she wanted to do the iconic song 'Summer Nights'. We were performing third in the line-up. So right after I either win or lose Best Actress In a Musical, I get to go right back up there and perform.
Once at the theater we all left the limo and stepped onto the red carpet. Mike and I walked first and took a few pictures together. Once Mike moved to take solo photos, I moved the train of my dress to the side so the whole dress was showcased. Eventually, I made it all the way to the infamous Tony Rose Wall. I took a few solo shots before Mike found his way back to me. I pressed a kiss to his cheek and he grinned at the cameras. About a minute later we moved on to the interviews.
