* art by me!!*
The girls walked up to us.
" Hello!"Hiya!"
They were older than me about 4 years older, both of them, and they look extremely similar.
As if they were twins, and they both had very distinct features.
For once, both of their eyes looked to be a different color in each iris being brown in one and then blue in the next.
Next, they both look like they have vitiligo having a mix of light and dark blotches all over both of their skin.
They were standing next to each other, both wearing a black short sleeve maxi dress, with a long black sleeve underneath. with white stockings and black flats. The one on the right had pigtails, was shorter, and was holding flyers.
the one on the left had half up half down hair and was noticeably taller with a book in her hand.
"Hello, children, can I help you?" Mama questioned. The girl with the flyers then spoke, "Hi! Our parents run a local church, and we're just wondering if you're interested in learning more and hopefully joining the service!"
Mama looked at them with a sincere smile and gently shook her head, " I work abroad, so I sadly can't join the service, but thanks for the offer."
The taller one than spook," Oh, that's okay! Seriously, no worries! Anyway I'm Casey please to meet you! Oh, and this is my sister Stacy!"
They both smiled at all three of us."Good to meetcha!!" Cassidy exclaimed, which resulted in a chuckle from Mama " yes, glad to meet you, I'm m/n, this is Cassidy, and my oldest is y/n right here" Mama gestured to me and I waved.
" hey um I'm, I'm sorry, I'm y/n." I don't even know where the nervousness came from.
"It's a pleasure to meet you guys! Sure fun to see new faces, speaking of new..." Casey spoke, her eyes making eye contact with me for a split second, then looking behind me where a mountain of boxes hid.
" Do ya need help movin in? We're more than happy to help out!" Casey cheerfully finished, putting an arm around Stacy.
Mama glanced at the boxes, then back at the girls.
" If it doesn't cost ya any trouble, then that would be wonderful."
Without wasting anytime the two church girls' eyes practically lit up, " WE WOULD LOVE TO!" They both shouted in unison.
And with that, the break came to stop to finish up the job.
.
.
.
I sighed in relief, finally after 3 1/2 hours, were done.
" phew- thanks, girls. I really appreciate it," Mom happily spoke, looking at Cassidy and me, then to the church girls.
" No problem, Ms. M/n! Always happy to help the new ones in town." I smiled.
these girls always seem to be cheerful, no matter what. And yet, I have only known them for 4 hours now, but even then, I saw them face rejection with a smile, then offer to help.
It's as if they were living in a dream.
Maybe this place isn't so bad after all?
And with that, us five went inside the house, Mama asking about how the town is like, who are neighbors are, you know the type of questions you would ask if you're a middle-aged woman who has kids and wants to know if the place it safe.
Stacy smiled, " Oh, this place is just wonderful! And this neighborhood has to be the best and safest one yet!"
Casey added, "Oh yes indeed! especially the neighbors you have directly across the street from you guys, there the Afton family and they are just a dream!"
Mama sighed in what could only be called in relief but then questioned
"Do they have any children?"Casey nodded, " They certainly do! The oldest is 12, the middle child is 8, and the youngest is 2."
Their oldest is 12? That's my age! And here I thought thinking I wouldn't make any friends... across the street is my chance!Mama and the two girls kept on talking, but me and Cassidy went upstairs to our new and own rooms.
I took a look around my room, still bland but filled with boxes.
The boxes that will bring color to this blank canvas, and just like that, I got to work on unpacking my boxes." and these are.... clothes"
"...bed..."
"These are toys..."
"These ar-" my door busted open, revealing my younger sister Cassidy, who had a wide smile with a hint of sparkle in her eyes.
"That family the little church girls told us about, there here! Mama told me to tell ya so you can come downstairs and meet them! They're really nice! Wow... you're almost done unpacking? You're such a worker bee!"
And with that, Cassidy slammed my room door shut while I soaked up all she just said to me...
The family the little church girls told us about...
...
oh! The aftons!
I quickly race out of my room and down the stairs, almost tripping halfway through to then be met with seven pairs of eyes. "
"Hello y/n, it's a pleasure to meet you."
