Warriors: Fallen Stars #1 The Beginnings

Prologue

         "Oh look at their poor frail bodies." Ivyclaw murmured, clearly looking sad. The kits wailed and cried, their eyes sealed shut. 

          "I'll help you guys, don't worry" she padded into the mouth of the nest, up to the kits and grabbed them both by their scruffs. "I guess I'll take you guys back to Shadowclan.." she sighed and ran back to her territory.

            She wondered what her leader would think, he was a fierce cat after all. She needed to help these kits, she couldn't bare to see them just be left there to rot in sadness. What would she name them anyway? They needed names if they were going to be accepted into Shadowclan, first of all. She'd name them in the nursery, she was the one who was going to have to suckle them too. And she had no mate, so it would be her, all by herself. She finally made it to the camp, several cats looked up in curiosity. Then her leader jumped from the rock and padded towards Ivyclaw. 

            "Ivyclaw, what in Starclan's name are these kits doing here? And they look nothing like you! Did you steal them from another clan?" Ivyclaw looked down and dropped the kits in front of her paws. 

              "I found them in the abandoned twoleg nest that Shellfeather said was okay to go hunt in. They were starving!" She drew her lip back in a snarl, then gently licked one of the kits. "Can I please take care of them? They look so helpless, and someone has to help them." 

              The leader looked shocked and confused at the same time. He stared at the two small kits. "Well as long as you're taking them and I don't have to, it's fine I guess." Ivyclaw smiled and picked up her kits, then headed to the nursery. 

             She plopped the two kits down nest to her and lied down, she was tired. She licked the two kits and suckled them, now what was she going to name them? She blinked slowly and looked down at the kits. "Hmm... how about Birchkit and Hawkkit? That'll fit them well."
