Lukas had only been 2 when his parents divorced.
When he was 4, he had made his first (obnoxious) friend.
By the time he was 8, the Norwegian had grown to be mature well past his age, and accumulated a group of friends.
He was 12 when he had gotten his timer and now at 16, he was going to be starting a new school year. Attaining a new sophomore status, he still had quite the reputation.
Incidentally, today is also the day his timer reads 4 hours and 36 minutes, He doesn't know where the time has gone, when he looks back and remembers when he had 4 years on his wrist instead of 0.
The day drags on and Lukas forgets about his timer until his language arts teacher tells him that his soulmate is about to walk through the door in just a few seconds.
Wrong.
From what Lukas can see from out into the hallway, the room is brightly lit. There are less tacky posters than usual, but they're there. He sees a word roots poster, and some of the windows are open. The floor is tiled, but worn slightly. He guesses that the floors were newer and shinier at first, but now they're dull. There are desks facing the windows on the side. Even the teacher's desk is snuggled in a cosy, but albeit messy corner of the room.
Lukas passes through the door. There's already a boy sleeping, or at least hunched over a desk with his head in his arms, in a corner unseen by Lukas earlier.
What annoys Lukas is that, his timer had to go off at that very second. He could see the boy snap his head up. Both their timers had rung.
Lukas could feel the stares of the class on him. He was sure his soulmate could feel it too.
Ultimately, his teacher insisted that they sit together. The boy blinked, grogginess blanketing his eyes. He was wondering what the hell was going on, that erased a bit of Lukas' nervousness, because he felt the same way.
The boy had fair skin, platinum blonde hair and fresh blue eyes that you would find in a painting. Sure, he was attractive, but Lukas felt no pull. He probably has a platonic soulmate, if that was the case.
"I'm Lukas." He greeted quietly. He kept reign of his tone, carefully speaking in a whisper.
"Eirikur, but you can call me Eiri. Or whatever." Eiri shrugged.
Lukas thinks that he and Magnus would get along, for some reason.
He decides to get them together.
Lukas could still hear the ring of the Timer when it went off as he unlocked his house door and let Eiri inside. His house was a built a few months after he had started middle school. His dad had bought it in 8th grade. It wasn't so big, but not so cosy. It got lonely at times, so a new addition that he may or may not even bring over all that much could be good. It's not a very closed house, or a lack of doors, to be precise. The kitchen connects to the living room, which connects to a bedroom. Upstairs, even then there isn't a door. Lukas supposes that there's less privacy but also less hassle of door slamming. The floor is tiled with clean, off white tiles. The ceiling is high, and there's an elegant chandelier hanging from it. Lukas switches on the living room light.
