*jocelyn*
I was sat in the dressing room all ready for the show just staring at my ring. Mom called me almost immediately after and congratulated me as did Selena and Andrew.
"Joss. Jocelyn!" Portia yelled
"Yeah?" I broke out of my trance
"We gotta go." Places. Right.
I slipped the ring off and put it in my jewelry box and followed her to the wings. I looked around for Mike and saw him talking to a few guys. They must've saw me and walked away. He turned confused before meeting my eye contact.
"Hey, doll."
"Hi."
I giggled happily and took his hand in mine. I shoved my face into his arm out of embarrassment and laughed some more.
"What's gotten into you?" He teased
"You know what."
Then the curtain went up and I practically skipped away from him.
. . .
I took my bow and stepped back into line. After our group bow I expected the curtain to just close as it's done a thousand times before but again, Mike and I got pushed to the front and handed flowers. Goebis came on stage with a microphone. Mike slung his arm around my shoulders and pressed a light kiss to my temple.
"These two kids got engaged! Can we give them a hand?"
The house and cast erupted in applause. I laughed slightly and leaned into my fiancée. Finally, the curtain closed but Georgia kept us all on stage.
"Alright everyone. I have some sad news. I just got word that Grease will be closing in 4 months." She sighed
Oh. I leaned further into Mike with a sad sigh. He rubbed my arm lightly as Georgia left to her office. I pulled away from Mike and walked to the dressing room with the girls.
"Do you guys have any plans for after?" I asked, taking my mic off
"Yeah. Actually, I do. I'm going to be in DreamGirls." Eloise replied
But nobody else had plans. I mean, I auditioned for this new musical called Six but I wasn't expecting anything.
"What about you Joss?" Dani asked
"I auditioned for this new musical, Six, if I get it I'll be originating a role. Which is pretty cool." I changed into my normal clothes
We talked until we all had to go. I was the last one to leave because I had to wait for Mike. He takes so long. Finally, he grabbed me and we were going back to the apartment. Luckily, tomorrow was our day off so we could relax.
. . .
"Grease is closing." Mike stated as we sat on the couch together
"Yeah. What're we going to do?"
"What do you mean?"
"Mike, we're getting married. That's expensive. And in a few short months we're going to be unemployed!" I stood up
"Why are you raising your voice?" He did the same
"This is scary, Mike! I'm scared." I stopped pacing
"What, you don't want to get married anymore?" He yelled
"What! Why would you think that!" I shouted back
"Answer the question!"
I hesitated. Which was a mistake. I do want to get married. But planning is stressful! And, I don't even know if we have the funds. Mike scoffed and turned around.
"Mike—" I reached out
"No! Jocelyn, I love you. I'll stay with Sam tonight." He took long strides to our bedroom and came back out with a full backpack.
There was no point in trying to stop him. I didn't want to make the argument worse. As he reached the door he turned around but shook his head.
"I love you." I whispered but didn't hear an answer
Mike walked out.
*mike*
Was she rethinking the engagement?
"Answer the question!" I yelled, I know she doesn't like yelling
She hesitated. Why would she hesitate? I scoffed as tears pricked my eyes for no good reason.
"I'll stay at sams tonight." A few tears fell from my eyes as I entered our bedroom
I packed a bag for the one night with a heavy heart. What is jocelyn really didn't want to get married anymore. I left the room and headed for the door. I heard Joss whisper a sweet 'I love you.'
"I love you too." I whispered quieter than her
