Some people say lightning never strikes twice. I beg to differ.

My name is Hiroshi Raionari, and this is my story in becoming a hero.

During junior school...

Not all men are made equal. I learned that lesson differently compared to others. I was born with the quirks of both my parents. Stormbringer and Lion. On one side, electricity-based quirks are not typically given to the hero industry. At least, normally, they're lent to other careers, such as electricians and other technology and trade related jobs.

On the other hand, my enhanced physical attributes from my Lion quirk would have been a boon in many industries as well. However, the downside is how my quirk makes me look. Although it counts as a transformation quirk, its lingering physical changes still made me look less human, more well... lion-like, in nature. Some still treat it as a mutant quirk from an outsider's perspective.

Such a combination might seem cool to some, but it wasn't exactly smiled upon in the school I grew up in...
"He looks so scary! He has claws instead of hands! And look, his teeth look like tusks (an exaggeration, I assure you)."

Only a few students in my school journey that I knew saw the potential for my quirks. Especially for the first week after my Stormbringer quirk developed. I already had a measure of my feline-like features showing because of my mother's quirk. Apparently, another kid in my class had a lightning quirk, or at least I thought they did, when I had an accidental discharge of my energy reserves without realising. Although I didn't know in that moment, his quirk generated electricity, but thankfully, he could conduct other forms of it, like lightning, which stopped my powers from causing further harm.

"Thank you for what you did back there. I haven't figured out how to use it properly yet, so I've still got a long way to go. You seem like a pro, though! I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you my name. I'm Raionari Hiroshi. Nice to meet you." I said to the yellow-blonde haired, conduit kid.

"No problem, I'm just glad I could help. The name's Kaminari Denki. We're like lightning bros!"

"Lightning bros?"

"Yeah! We're totally friends since we share a quirk, right?"

"Right!" I responded in full, appreciating the friendship that Kaminari had provided me despite our physical differences. Although Kaminari was a supportive friend, I didn't really feel he understood my circumstances, but I wasn't going to push him away either. I didn't really grow up with friends before that point. So, it was a welcome change at the time.

The Powerful Cannot Be Contained:

I never appreciated the need to show off my powers. I was praised for my power, yet it always felt forced, like I didn't earn it. That's why I dreaded the quirk tests they held each year. It was to determine if our quirks had changed (or developed different applications) so they could categorise our quirks better for police checks and the like.

Every time I participated; it was always the same.

"Wow, such a strong quirk."
"He might just get through to a hero school on recommendations alone."

However, to have such power would ultimately have a drawback. The problem with having a lightning or electricity-based quirk is the power you exert with it. Kaminari has no issues blasting out a million volts, knocking out his opponents with ease.

The problem is that I had the ability to change the amount of power I could induce through a lightning attack. However, I had difficulty controlling the current. As is commonly known, current kills, not voltage. So, it was required that if I were allowed to use my quirk, I needed to use step-up transformer coils wrapped around my arms to make sure the current produced was low enough to not risk injury – or worse, death – to anyone nearby.
