Chapter Three

Katherine sat beside Karlitus, watching over the unconscious male worriedly. It had been three days since the bandit attack, three days since the male collapsed, which was startig to worry her dearly. She sighed and stood up, fixing her hair as she turned away, and grabbed a towel, dipping it into a bowl of warm water. She wrung the towel out, placing it on the black haired males head. "Please wake up soon"Katherine mutters. "I am awake." She perked up, Karlitus opening his eyes, looking directly at her. "KARLITUS!!" She hugged him, a smile of relief on her face. "When"Katherine asked. "Yesterday morning"Karlitus responds. She stared at him, feeling as if everything shattered. "YOU JERK!! YOU JERKY JERK JERK!!" She hit his shoulder, Karlitus laughing at the sight of her flustered anger. "YOU HAD ME WORRIED SICK!"Katherine shouts slapping his shoulder angrily.

Berty smiled at the two, looking amused as she watched Karlitus get scolded by Katherine. "I should thank you for caring for me, is there anything you want"Karlitus smiled. She only stared at him, rubbing her hands together silently. "I just wanna go home, that's it, I don't really want anything else"Katherine sighed sitting down. Karlitus stared at her, and sighed. "How about I find something that can remind you of home"Karlitus suggests. "That can do for now"Katherine mutters. "Alright"Karlitus says hopping up. "WHERE ARE YOU GOING!!"Katherine demanded. She grabbed his arm, Karlitus looking back at her. "I'm going to find you something, I'll be gone a day or two"Karlitus says gently removing her hands. He walked away, Kathering hurrying over to him, grabbing his cloak. "NO! REST MORE!!"Kathering yells. "I have, I'm energized and ready to go search"Karlitus retorts trying to tug his cloak away from her.

"NOT ENOUGH!!"Katherine retorts back. "I have!"Karlitus yells. "DON'T LEAVE ME!!" He froze, staring at her. "You're the only person I really trust right now, if you leave I might loose my mind worrying about you"Katherine mutters tears falling down her cheeks. "Whatever slaughtered some of my people is still at large, what if it comes for you, I-I can't risk that...so please, don't leave me"Katherine mumbles. Karlitus sighed and walked closer to her. "You're an idiot, but fine I won't leave your side..at least until you're comfortable"Karlitus promised. A growl came from the girl stomach, Karlitus coughing to hide his amusement. "You haven't eaten"Karlitus questions. "No, I was too worried about you"Katherine answers. He crossed his arms, glaring at her unamused. "Come on, I'll take you to find something to eat"Karlitus beckoned walking away to the kitchen.

Katherine sat at a dining table, her hand clasped together as she waited for something to eat. "It's not much, but I tried"Karlitus says walking over. He set down the plate of sandwiches, Katherine picking up one and taking a bite. "It's surprisingly good"Katherine comments. "Hah"Karlitus smirked looking proud. "Brother Karl!"Berty waved beckoning him over. He walked over, looking curious. "Give these to her, roses symbolize love"Berty grinned. "Ah, alright"Karlitus nodded taking the flowers. He turned away, hurrying back over to Katherine. "Here." She looked up surprised, her eyes on the roses. "Wow..thank you, these are my favorites, they remind me of Rose quartz"Katherine smiled her expression softening. The days where she would run around with her nanny and go pick roses to give to her father was still fresh in her mind, a memory that could never fade away.

She frowned, wondering why the bandits came for her or if someone sent them her way for some reason. "Thank you for the food and flowers, but I wanna do some investigating now!"Katherine smiled getting up. "Investigate what?"Karlitus asks. "The bandits, I wanna know why they came for me or who was the person who sent them my way, I wanna know everything"Katherine replies determinedly. "Wait, I wanna show you your new room!"Karlitus calls hurrying after her as she bolted out of the room. "They're made for each other"Berty sighed shaking her head amused. "Who"Leonhart asks walking over. "Brother Karl and Katherine! They'd make a cute couple wouldn't they, Papa!"Berty smiled. Leonhart blinked, thinking about it now. Hearing those two go back and forth with each other or chase the other around the house would be a little annoying to hear and see at times.

The thing about the two though...it silently spoke of upcoming trouble. Katherine's appearance, the weasel people vanishing and some getting killed off, and then bandits appearing and even attacking the duo while they were out. Leonhart narrowed his eyes, wondering why the bandits wanted Katherine so badly. "Come"Leonhart beckons. Berty smiled, walking after him. "I FORGOT THE FLOWERS!!" Katherine ran back in, Karlitus right behind her but she crashed into someone. "Sorry, are these yours." She looked up, her eyes meeting grey-ish ones. "I am Count Jelot"The man greets. "Katherine, come on"Karlitus sighed. Jelot handed the roses to her and smiled. "I hope we can talk again soon, Katherine, you're very pretty"Jelot smiled. "Yes, of course, why don't you come to my room for tea tomorrow"Katherine nodded. "Wonderful, I'll be there"Jelot chuckled. He took her hand, pressing a kiss to the back of it.

"BACK. OFF!!" Karlitus snatched Katherine backwards, growling at Jelot. "Sorry, Young Master, I didn't mean any harm or disrespect"Jelot apologizes bowing his head. "Kathy, let's go"Karlitus orders walking away. "Bye..."Katherine waves. "Bye Katherine, see you tomorrow"Jelot waved. Katherine hurried after Karlitus, carrying the roses in her arms, her hair swaying behind her. "What's the matter with you, he was being nice"Katherine scolded. Karlitus looked at her, his eyes burning with anger. "I don't want you near any guy who isn't me"Karlitus scowled. "You can't do that!"Katherine gasped glaring at him. "You're the one who didn't want me to leave you!"Karlitus retorted. "But that gives you no right to control me! I am gonna talk to that nice man and you can't stop me!"Katherine retorts. She turned and stormed away, Karlitus frowning. "UGH! WOMEN!"Karlitus yells.

Jelot smiled, looking out the window. His first plan may have failed, himself saving Katherine from the bandits and her trusting him enough to become blind to his true intentions but having her at the El Aslan house was more satisfying. There was no doubt Karlitus had fell for her because of her looks, since rumor had it that Katherine was one of the most gorgeous among society even though few had seen her. Those who laid eyes on her described her as the most gorgeous angel they've ever seen, which also caused letters for her hand in marriage to practically flood her fathers office. Katherine was next in line to be queen of her Hidden Kingdom, even though there were those who said she was too trusting, naive and compassionate to be queen they still respected her and vowed to help her make the right choices. All Jelot had to do was earn her trust and get her to marry him, and he'd stand higher than Leon El Aslan. His plan was flawless, since Katherine was too stupid to put the pieces together.
