London
Oct. 2ndThe house where Sully, Dris and Dushane lived was further distant from the city center of London in an industrial area. It was an old office building. All the buildings in the area were run down, the apartment buildings impoverished, the stores empty. There were no inhabited houses within 500 meters. It was a perfect hiding place.
Nora had been told to set up in a small room. She had a mattress, nothing more. At night she dreamed of her beautiful, clean apartment. But the last two days she had been at work all day anyway, so most of the time she wasn't in this dump anyway.
The relationship with Heath was difficult. He had winked at her at work today and she had to explain it to Louis somehow. Because Louis, of course, knew how Nora despised Heath and especially how many times she had turned him down. Not to mention that Heath and Louis absolutely couldn't stand each other.
To her horror, Heath had set conditions for her: He wanted five dates, after each of which he would transfer 2600 pounds to her. He said he didn't want to be exploited by her, but to get her the old school way. What did that mean exactly? Probably using money to force a woman to go on dates, otherwise Nora could not explain his stupid argumentation of the proposal.
Her stubbornness had gotten her into all this. But at least she could go back to work, spend time alone, and once she got through those stupid dates with Heath, this nightmare would be over.
It was 9 p.m. and she was sitting on the couch on the first floor. Her supervisor challenged her by overwhelming her with tasks that 24 hours a day just wasn't enough.
That's why Nora was writing a motion for the judge in an important case she had taken on when the door was unlocked and several people came running into the building. Nora heard loud cursing and the door being slammed shut.
She looked up from her laptop and saw Dushane, Dris and a girl she hadn't seen before. They were upset and cursing. Dris and the girl had sores on their faces and were sweating.
"Who the fuck is that?" the girl shouted in a hostile manner, pointing at Nora.
"Long story," Dushane said coldly, gesturing for the girl not to question further. The Nora's surprise, she nodded and actually didn't ask further.
"Jaq, this is Nora. Nora, this is Jaq," he said curtly, wiping sweat from his brow.
Nora smiled in confusion. She had no idea what was going on, but she was happy to see another woman. But Jaq just nodded at her absentmindedly and then hastily took off her jacket.
"How the hell was I supposed to know those dickheads were waiting for us, cuz," Jaq cursed, glaring at Dushane.
"That was your only fucking job," Dushane shouted, his voice echoing around the room. He looked very angry.
"Fuck," he exclaimed, running his hand over his face.
"Relax, fam"
Nora recognized Sully's voice immediately. When he entered the room, her heart slipped. His face was covered with scratches, he was bleeding on his forehead and appeared to have glass shards in his skin. On his arms he had bruises and some open abrasions.
He walked past the others and turned to run up the stairs.
Nora set her laptop down on the coffee table and stood up in shock. Jaq and Dris began to fight again.
"What happened to you?" Nora asked in Sully's direction as the others scoffed at each other.
Sully didn't look at her. But she knew he had heard her.
Then he turned his head toward her, and in his eyes was the familiar indifferent, bleary, vacuous look she already knew all too well.
"This is none of your business and you know it," he said coldly. He didn't speak aloud, and yet Nora understood every word crystal clear. It was his way of speaking.
But no matter how confident and unaffected he acted, Nora heard that his voice was quivering. That he was angry.
But before she could say anything else, he went up the stairs.
She glanced after him briefly and sank back down on.
