Where the Night Meets the Sea

Chapter 1

*Note - Story continues from the last scene where Vegas, Pete, and Macau hug*

Vegas POV:-

When I was shot at the main family mansion, I did not expect to see another day, but here I am holding the two most important people in life in my arms. 👨‍👨‍👦 I still find it hard to believe that Pete left major family for me but I will make his decision worth it. But Macau's voice brought me out of my thoughts.

" Phi!!  what are we going to do now?"

" what do u mean?"

Macau sat up and looked at me concerned. " I mean now that Pa is gone and Porche is head of the minor family, what about us?" 

I looked at Pete and he squeezed my hand and said "We will figure it out Macau but for now you should eat something." After eating I sent Macau home.

Pete told me a few days after I woke up that Porche returned the minor family mansion to me since he won't be living there and it is the place Macau and I lived our whole life. I do feel cheated that Porsche became the minor family head but for once in my life, I feel relaxed as well. I have worked hard my whole life but now I want a peaceful life with people who truly matter. But I feel so lost now that I have lost my position. It's not that I have no money left. I have investments and properties out of the main family's knowledge. I got them to secure me and Macau's future and some that I inherited from my mom. But I have lost my position which makes us vulnerable, so I still need to figure out a way to provide my family with a good lifestyle and protection.

"Are u thinking about Macau's question?", Pete asked.

"Mm. I didn't know what to tell him."

"How do you want your life to be now? Do you want to be the minor family head? Do you want to do something else?"

"Porsche does not deserve to be in that position. He does not understand the weight of that responsibility. But I am tired of doing main family's dirty work. I want to have a peaceful life with u anMacauau. But we can't just leave the mafia. I have too many enemies and Uncle Korn won't let me off the hook so easily, besides I don't even know what else to do because this is all I know."

The room was quiet for a while after that. Other than the uncertainty of our future, one thought has been bothering me since the day I woke up. I want to know if Pete is still loyal to uncle korn. I mean I don't doubt his love for me, but he was also main family's most trusted bodyguard. I know he won't betray me but he respects my unclear lott. I remember when he told me to surrender in the safe house. I want him to understand that his uncle does not give a shit about us. I don't want any trust issues or miscommunication between us.

"Pete, can I ask u something?"

"Sure"

"Do u still trust Uncle Korn? I mean do you still believe he means well for us?"🙁😟

"Umm...i..i..."
