It was about 1 o'clock, just a little past midnight. It was pouring rain outside her house, with thunder and lightning. She was in her room listening to music because she couldn't fall asleep. Then it happened, she heard a loud crying noise. That's the night she realized things were about to be very different for her.

Her name was Hailey, an ordinary 14 year old, teenage girl. Everything was going good in her life, school was fine, she had lots of great friends, everything seemed to be at peace in the world. Then it became October, her mom got sick and they found out she had cancer. Her mom was in and out of the hospital for radiation treatment and check ups. They found out she had brain, lung, and pancreatic cancer, you can't be cured of pancreatic cancer. Then around the end of January things started getting worse, her mom was sicker by the day, her whole family knew what was coming. February 10, 2011, that was the day Hailey changed forever, she became stronger from this. February 10, 2011, it was a Thursday, Hailey and her sister Destiny had to wake up for school in an hour, but Hailey was already awake. She woke up from hearing her mother wake up coughing, she heard her dad running around through the house looking for things...on the phone, worried. She heard the ambulance arrive, and her father tell them that they were too late, she was gone. That is the worst thing she could have ever heard. Hailey's aunt came over and her aunt's Reverend from her church came. He said a prayer and everybody said their final words to her. Destiny said she loved her and kissed her on the head, Hailey did the exact same. She couldn't think of anything else to do, she was trying to stay strong, which is hard to do with your dead mother lying in front of you. That was the day that changed Hailey's life around quite a bit.

It was a few months after her mom died. It was 1 o'clock, there was a storm going on outside. Lightning flashing everywhere, thunder filling the sky with noise. The wind was so powerful it was breaking branches off of trees. To make it worse a branch landed on a power line near Hailey's house, all the power in her neighborhood went out. She was listening music to try and block out the noise of the storm but it wasn't working very well. Hailey was just about to fall asleep when she heard something. She heard loud crying, it sounded like a woman crying. Her dad was asleep, Destiny was in her room sleeping, she had no clue what the noise could be. It kept getting louder as she searched her house. She went in her room and blasted her music in her ears, kept her head under her pillow, the sound would not go away. Then it stopped, not just the sound but the storm as well. It was as quiet as could be, in fact the loudest thing she heard was her dad and Destiny snoring.
