The Couple in the Portrait

Chapter 3

     "How was your day dear?" I ask; John rushes to the couch and lets out a big sigh. "Great but so long, I was dreading life being without you , and well, the work kicked my ass" We both laugh. I can't imagine working everyday for 11 hours, let alone working in general.
     "I missed you more John, and I have amazing news! I finally made a friend as you wished ,we met at the plant store down the street,she gave me a tour of the city for a few hours Also." His drowsy eyes seemingly shot open with surprise when I finished , it scared me with how hard he jolted up from his seat.
       "That's wonderful dear! Who was she? Did you have fun?"
    "Very much, her names ruby, she's a bit older than I am ,definitely older than you by a few years, she's 29, and we had so much in common I felt like I was just talking into a mirror" I exclaimed.
       I will admit , having the company of another woman felt great, it's been so long talking with a friend I almost forgot what it was like to gossip and talk womanly things with another.
    "That's amazing I'm glad you and I both had An amazing first day" he smiles and kisses me. "Well it's getting really late I was thinking maybe I'd take a shower and we can end the night finally. Care to join me ?"
     How could I ever say no to that smile. That night was ended perfectly indeed.
