How did it? What? It happened too fast.

One moment ago we were cuddling, his body against mine, his arms around my body, indirectly claiming that I belonged to him. We were lying on my favorite lavender sheets, the cold breeze gently blowing on our delicate bodies. The feeling was extraordinary, like nothing I've ever felt before.

RINGGGGGGGGG!!! Oh no! Reality calls.

I opened my eyes. He wasn't there. He never was. All there were was just the two pillows beside me. I went straight for the snooze bar on my alarm clock, annoyed to be awakened from such a wonderful dream I was having, and tried desperately to go back to sleep and continue that dream.

As I was falling back into sleep, my phone rang. More irritated than ever, I grabbed my phone hastily from the table next to where I was sleeping and check the caller.

I smiled instantly. It was Zack. Suddenly I'm not mad anymore.

Zack, being a super talented swimmer and athlete, was in Europe for some training camp that lasted for a whole week. He had been staying in a school dorm alone for 3 days now, and it seemed like he couldn't wait to get back home.

After attempting to get rid of my 'morning voice', I quickly hit the answer button.

"Hey dear." Came his angelic voice from the other end.

I clear my throat again. "Hey, whats up?"

"OMG were you sleeping? Im so sorry to disturb you!" Is it really THAT obvious that I was just forced to crawl out of bed like 30 seconds ago?

I felt embarrassed. "No, i woke up quite a while ago but, yeah my annoying morning voice doesn't wanna leave." Hoped that sounded convincing.

"Oh in that case, I have some really bad news."

"Yeah?"

"So my parents were talking to my coach and......"

Oh god this can't be good.

"They said that they might transfer me to the school here since it has better training facilities and the school hours are shorter, which means more time for trainings." He paused. "Plus, I think they're providing a full scholarship for us athletes, so that means me and my sister to come study here."

I froze. EUROPE? Thats like more than a thousand miles away, all the way to the other side of the world, another CONTINENT.

"Hello, Adriette? Are you still there?"

I tried to stay calm. "Yes, sorry, was just too shocked by the news. "

Zack sounded devastated yet excited. "Yeah me too, i just found out this morning when I went down for breakfast." He sighed. "I mean, my dad told me that this is a one in a lifetime opportunity and that I should take it. "

I didn't know what to say. I wanted him to go for it but at the same time I wanted him to stay with me. I felt selfish. "I guess its up to you then. I mean, its your future we're talking about here." I sounded pretty emotionless.

"Yeah but, I can't be with you if I go all the way to Europe. Thats the thing." He sighed, torn between his choices. "Anyways, I'm going for the entry test for the school admission later this afternoon."

Oh wow, thats fast.

"Oh." I said, the disappointment in my voice was hard to miss. He must've heard it, because he tried to cheer me up instantly. "Don't worry, babe, I promise i'll come visit every one or two months."

Tears were building up in my eyes. "Okay, anyways i gotta go dear, talk to you later!" And quickly hung up before he could tell that I was gonna cry.

I lay down in bed, staring into space, thinking about everything that was about to change, and the worse part is, I don't know if I'll be able to accept these changes.

We've just been dating for a week. He asked me officially to be his girlfriend exactly a week ago. It was a truly romantic gesture. After school last week he came over to my class when i was packing up alone as I had volleyball practice and asked me. Zack was quite shy for a senior who was interested in a girl three years younger than him. But he's slowly working on that.

A week. 7 days. 168 hours. 10,080 minutes. 604,800 seconds. Thats how long we've dated for him to break the news that he might be leaving for Europe to study. If only he hadn't asked me last week, or I was absent, or I wasn't there when he came, then he wouldn't have confessed and I wouldn't expect too much from him as a close friend.

But he did. And i do not know if I'm ready to commit to a long distance relationship across the world.
