A mistake. I remember those being Jeremy's words to me at my father's wedding reception. It was only a few months after my mother's passing did my father come home over the moon excited and said the five words that changed my entire world just when I was starting to build it back up: "I got a new girlfriend!" After that, everything just turned into a flaming dumpster quickly rolling down a steep hill and into my little house of composure.

Amelia may love my dad but she certainly does not love me, she could care less about me. I'm not making that up either! One night she was sitting on the living room couch and watching a movie with my dad for a date night when he left to use the bathroom. I came out of my bedroom and went down into the kitchen to just grab a glass of water when she just flat out told me, "You're lucky I even decided to say 'yes' when Mark asked me to marry him because I was close to saying 'no' when I found out he had a daughter!"

Yeah, it stings but it didn't bother me much as I just shrugged it off and headed back up to my room after getting my drink. So after being forced as one of her bridesmaids' thanks to my dad and watching them be all lovey-dovey and have their little dance together while me and my cousin stood off by the refreshments table during the reception. "I'm tellin' ya Autumn, him marrying her is a mistake."

He was a few years younger than me and was still in middle school when he said this yet never had I ever agreed so much with someone more in my life.

And then a week later we packed up and moved out of our cramped little apartment in Salt Lake City that was perfect for just me and my father only to move to some trailer home in Ephraim.

So that's where I am in my life now. Having moved during eighth grade and now being a senior in high school I have been here for three years with a new family that I never asked for.
