Sunrise

The sun was rising, pouring out among the off-white curtains beside the bed where Eclair and his beloved Affogato resided. Eclair was the first to open his eyes, at least part-way, as the yellow-orange light reached the two. His eyelids flickered as he contemplated falling back asleep, until he caught sight of Affogato's sleeping form. How at peace the other seemed. Affogato was asleep facing Eclair, his face somewhat submerged beneath his pillow. His fairly long, brown and white hair had splayed along his neck so gracefully.

However, its length could not compare to Eclair's hair, which always found its way overlapping the two. Oh, what a giggling mess Affogato became whenever he woke up tangled in the other's hair! He always enjoyed playing with it, which gave room for creativity as Affogato would sometimes help Eclair style it. One day Eclair would go to work in a fishtail bun, another day with small braids embedded in his unbraided ponytail. Although these styles didn't require much effort, Affogato still handled Eclair's soft, sweet-scented hair with care.

Speaking of Affogato, he was already indeed quite a beauty, with his soft figure and his fluttering lashes peacefully drooped, a bittersweet scent of coffee and ice cream surrounding him. However, coupled with the sunlight grazing his complexion, he looked ethereal. Eclair could only stare at the other in awe; he felt lucky to be with Affogato. His love for him, genuine devotion not from the other's cunning, was boundless, and it would only pile up more by the day.

Normally, one or the other would get up and make breakfast, depending on which of the two woke up first. Eclair was definitely not a chef but still had cooking experience, cooking more savory, hearty meals for his beloved. Affogato, on the other hand, would always make something sweet and sugary, as his sweet tooth demanded it. Yet, today was different. Although Eclair woke up first, he didn't feel like leaving the bed. His heart might belong with Affogato forever, yet leaving his side in this moment made Eclair feel as though he'd lose the other permanently.

Eclair instead remained laying on his side, gazing lovingly at Affogato resting with his guard lowered, something he definitely needed for a long time. Slowly, Eclair placed his hand on his lover's cheek, allowing his thumb to circle round and round, making sure that Affogato wouldn't awaken. Eventually, he stopped and simply sighed a loving sigh as he took in the sight before him once again. Suddenly, Affogato's eyelids twitched, signaling that he was about to wake up. They slowly flicked up as he gazed back at Eclair, who now had a light blush dusted across his face. He didn't think Affogato could look even more dashing, the pupils of his milky white eyes having expanded more than usual as they looked Eclair up and down.

"Well, you're up quite early," Affogato muttered before softly chuckling, his hand reaching up to pet Eclair's head.

In the morning, when Affogato would awaken, he would usually speak in a hushed whisper, as if he was sharing a secret, or better yet, a side of him between the two that only they knew. Eclair could only close his eyes and lean into his touch, his own hand finding a place on Affogato's, before smiling.

"I suppose I am."

As Eclair spoke, Affogato slowly dragged his hand down to Eclair's waist, eventually moving it up and down along it, as he leaned closer to the other, his lips reaching Eclair's ear.

"Mn, you're so cute like this," he tenderly whispered before placing his lips on Eclair's temple.

Eclair could only blush more as he was rendered speechless, gazing longingly at Affogato, who continued peppering his face with light kisses, eventually stopping before his quivering lips. Affogato gave him a small smile before closing his eyes and kissing him on the lips slowly and gently, and oh, was it more than enough. Eclair laid below him as he reciprocated the gesture, wrapping his arms around the other as he pulled him into a warm embrace. Seconds felt like minutes, and minutes felt like hours as the two shared their affection.

Eventually, the pair pulled away from the kiss, panting lightly due to lack of breath. Affogato took this moment to gaze at his love below him, with the sunlight hitting his olive irises just right, making them glow with a hint of lime. The gradually rising sun also drifted over Eclair's tan skin with a golden hue. The shadows left behind the sun, on the other hand, had accentuated his facial features, and his wavy hair flowed everywhere across the bed, some strands spilling in front of his face. Eclair's breath eventually slowed as he gazed up at the other.

"You've been staring for a while, is something on your mind?" Eclair asked in a hushed tone.

"You're beautiful..." Affogato responded without missing a beat, his eyes halfway closed so that he could focus on Eclair and Eclair only.

Eclair could only cover his face due to the heat rising to it. Affogato giggled and removed one of his hands before pinching his cheek.

"Aw, look at you! You're as red as a meat jelly!" Affogato remarked before pecking the other's forehead.

That unfortunately did not help Eclair as he stammered, "I-I can't help it! I'm still not used to this much attention!"

Affogato could only chuckle as he let go of Eclair's face before softly yawning and snuggling into his neck.

"Mm, seems I still need some beauty sleep, goodnight darling..." Affogato whispered, mouthing his last words before immediately falling asleep again. He always was a fast sleeper.

It seemed that moment of intimacy between the two also exhausted Eclair, for his eyelids began to flutter closed. Before drifting back to sleep, he placed a kiss on Affogato's head, tenderly whispering sweet nothings to him.

So there laid the two, asleep once again as the sun was still rising, only now its light had a pale yellow hue to it. No matter, it was Eclair's day off anyways. The two could snuggle and sleep in for as long as they wanted. Who knows, perhaps it's what they needed after a long week.
