++++++Author's note++++++
Hey, If you read my chapters and don't want to vote✨, please don't read them since you obviously don't like them. I'm not doing this for money, just appreciation for my art is enough. It takes a lot of my time, effort and space to make this possible. A simple click on the star icon shouldn't be so hard.Thank you, and sorry for the rant if you're a nice reader and voter.
I love you.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Raavi POV
I looked at myself in the mirror wearing a lakhnawi chikankari lavender kurti and white salwar with oxidized earrings and silver bangles. My hair was braided back ending at my waist as I kept the braid on my front, right side.
Alexander would be here with my brother anytime soon and nervous wouldn't even begin to describe this.
I heard a knock on the door of my bedroom as I turn to look at Tejpartap standing there.
"Since when do you knock?"
"Since you invited your boyfriend over and didn't even think of telling your twin." He says clearly pissed.
"You have your own problems right now. I know you don't tell me, but even you are not on your finest." I say as he smiles.
"I support you. No matter what." He says placing a hand on my shoulder as I hug him.
He was 6'3" like my dad and I had stopped at a few cms below 5'9".
"Thank you." I say as he kisses my forehead. "You don't want the throne, do you?" I say looking up as he looks away and nods.
"Heavy is the head that wears the crown and I feel it might just snap my neck." He jokes as I slap his torso.
"Shut up." I say as he chuckles. "You'd be a great king. The people love you."
"The people? Yes, The violent criminal side of it? I can't." He says as I nod.
I've taken up after my father - fierce and protective, whereas Tejpartap is kind, empathetic and compassionate like my mom. He thinks a man isn't evil, the circumstances are. That is not the mindset a mafia king nods.
"Princess, kunwar... you're both called downstairs by Raja ji." A maid knocks on my door and says.
"Are Grandma and Grandpa invited?" he asks as I shake my head.
"Not until dad approves him. She said Raja ji, not Maharaja ji!" I say double checking as he hands my white dupatta and we walk out.
"This is beautiful." I hear my mom say to the flower arrangement of purple and blue tulips as I look at him holding onto another bouquet of Ebb Tide roses.
He sees me walking down the stairs, holding eye contact as his gaze momentarily grazes my belly.
There was a smile in his eyes, somewhere calm and soothing. He was happy for the baby and that made me relaxed. We hadn't even talked properly with all that's happening since I had taken a test.
"This is for you." He says as I smile walking to him and taking the exquisite rose arrangement.
"Thank you." I say, as his eyes told me that he wanted to kiss me but he didn't. His eyes asked 'How I was?' And I blinked to tell him that 'I was better now that he's here'.
"Uhmmm... I'm Tejpartap." My twin introduces himself as Alex shook his hand.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." He says, as Tejpartap nods.
"Please sit down." He says as Alexander takes a seat.
"Get up." I hear my father say as he walks down the stairs from the other end.
"Dad." I say, as I notice the papers in his hand and my heart sank. I could just identify the bold header on the page.
Alexander landed day before yesterday and I had been feeling excessively dizzy. I knew it could be something serious and hence ordered a blood test yesterday but I was sure HCG or pregnancy diagnosis was not a part of it.
So, why was he so angry? Would he punch Alex for not taking care of me and making me anemic?
"Go pack up, Raavi. The district magistrate will be here in an hour to register your marriage and I've got a take off permission for his jet within the half hour that follows." he spoke as my mother went to him.
"Are you out of your mind, Ekansh? What is wrong with you?" Her tone was higher as I flinched. She would never speak to my father in public like this, in respect of his position .
I looked around and noticed none of the help was around, which was very strange in a house full of 48 working people.
"What is wrong with me?" My father says looking at me, with tears ready to spill. I have never seen this man cry till date. "I am questioning myself and I don't have an answer, so you tell me. What was wrong with me or our upbringing that you had to do this? You know the repurcussions this could have?" He says as my mother takes the papers from him as her mouth falls open.
"This depicts iron deficiency." She says.
"And Daman you've had iron deficiency twice in your life, both in your pregnancies. My daughter's Hb has never been below 10, for all the pomegranates and special salads I made her. And just... Just look at her, she is..." He pauses and takes a deep breath, and then focuses at his wife's face as I was still trying to make sense of it all. "So you knew?" My father says looking at her reaction. I run and take the reports from him.
"Ekansh it is... Even we... The food" My mother was trying to say.
"I failed as a parent, I failed in loving you and every time I look at you I feel it in my bones. So please leave. I've contacted the royal's PR team for a soft launch to your wedding that took place in America three months ago. The district magistrate knows that story, he won't ask for prove because of me but you better roll with it. I'll return when you've left." He says picking up his car keys.
"Daddy, don't go." I say on the verge of tears, the little girl in me too scared to move. He doesn't turn to look back, like he would before going to his office and promise to come back asap.
"I'll abort. I'll break up. I'll leave my study. I'll do what you want. Please... Please don't do this. I can't have a life without you." I say as he shook his head without even turning to look back at me, and I knew he was crying."If you still care for what I want, just leave." He said not even facing me and walking out. I turn towards Alex, hug him tight for comfort and love as he was still and unwelcoming. He looked at me with nothing but hate and disgust.
"I'll pack for her." My mother says and leaves me alone and the next few hours after that were a blur.
