"Please!"
"Please Don't!"
"Plea-"
Ring Ring Ring
What was that? A dream? A nightmare?
I looked over at my alarm and turned it off so as not to cause a disturbance among my roommates. I then proceed to exit my room and make my way over to the bathroom.
That's weird. Why is it always the same dream? What was I dreaming about? Why are they recurring again? I thought they went away for good.
"So what you're telling me is that you've had the same dream since high school?"
"Yes."
"Is this your first time speaking to a therapist or anyone about these dreams?"
"Yes."
"Can you tell me about your dream?"
"Well, there isn't much to it. I remember hearing a kid yelling out 'please' 'please don't,' and then it cuts off."
"Do you recognize the voice by any chance?"
"Not that I know of."
End of flashback
It's been a whole year since they stopped, and now they are coming back? Should I contact my therapist? It's not even my therapist. It's Annalise's. Maybe I should look for my own counselor. With what money? It's probably stress. I'll look for a new hobby or something. Perhaps I should start exercising. Ha, that's funny, like I have time to excer-
Knock Knock Knock
"Hey, Priscilla! You're not the only one who has to get ready!"
...
"Priscilla?"
...
"P R I S C I L L A!"
I open the door to see Annelise on the other side with her arms crossed.
"My bad."
"About time. What were you even doing? You've been in there for a whole whopping 30 minutes."
Has it really been that long?
"Priscilla? Hey, can you hear me?"
"Oh yah, my bad. I was just thinking about something."
"Grades? Lack of money? Or could it be perhaps boys?"
"Um, no. Annalise remember those dreams I used to tell you about?"
"Oh, do I remember? Those dreams wouldn't let you sleep properly. You would go on and on about some kid's voice saying, what was it? 'Please?'"
"Yah...well, I think they came back."
"Great, now that's all you'll be discussing for the day. Well, enough talking, get ready. Mateo fixed his car, so we don't have to walk to school. Isn't that exciting!"
About time. Mateo has been telling us he'll get his car fixed before beginning our first year of college, but it's been two years. He crashed it in his very last year of high school, for what reason, I don't know, but Annelise has been begging him to get it fixed before the beginning of our college sophomore year.
Annalise was starting to close the door, but before she did, I said...
"Annelise, can you at least hear me out?"
"I'm done trying to hear you out on this dream fiasco! The last time I did, you wouldn't stop going on and on about it, and I even started developing nightmares. Priscilla, if you need someone to talk to, you have Eleanor, or I could set up an appointment with my therapist so you can go see him."
...
"Listen, Priscilla. It's not because I don't want to help you. It's because the way you describe it is...How should I put this? It's like a horror movie."
...
"I mean, come on. A nightmare about some kid screaming and hollering 'Please' in the middle of a dark room with tears running down their face?"
"It does sound scary when you put it that way."
Annelise proceeds to close the door. I turn around to come head-to-head with Eleanor.
"Morning Priscilla. I see Anne's awake."
"Good morning Eleanor, yah, she's up. Oh, did you hear? Mateo got his car fixed."
"So I heard, bet Anne's ecstatic about that. Just hope he doesn't wreck it on the way over there."
"Ha, please don't say that."
Then out of nowhere, Mateo and Ryan come running through the hallway.
"C'mon, hurry up, or I'll leave you guys behind!"
We all got into Mateo's SUV and headed to school.
"So guys, I was thinking we go on a trip this weekend! Wouldn't that be fun, all five of us enjoying a nice relaxing trip!" Exclaimed Annalise
"Where exactly are we going?" Asked Mateo
"I'm not sure yet, but I was thinking we could talk about it over lunch!"
A trip? This may help with the nightmares.
"I heard your nightmares are back." Whispered Eleanor
"Did Annelise tell you?"
"No. I overheard you and Anne talking earlier today."
"Oh."
"If you need anything, you can always come to me."
"Thank you."
Author's Note:
I previously made a story, but it didn't work out. I decided to start fresh and put effort into the story. Please ignore any errors. I would also love to hear your feedback, and thank you for reading my story. I will try and publish a chapter every Wednesday within a week or two depending on how everything's going. Have a nice and wonderful day!
