I was roaming in the dimly lit corridor taking slow-paced steps, looking at my heels in contemplation. It was a huge bore to be surrounded by a monotonous life.
I hadn't met Rose the entire day and it was irking me. When I reached her door I knocked on it twice and let myself in when I heard a faint 'come in'.
She was dressed in a casual, flowy lavender dress with her hair let down and a lavender bow at the back of her head. It was the same bow she had worn months ago at the event I took her to. Sweet memories. She ate and drank exotic delicacies from all over the world as if her life depended on it that day.
''Good evening madam.'' She smiled as she advanced towards me.
I nodded in return and sat down on her bed with a heavy sigh. She probably sensed my mood and sat next to me, one hand on my lap and the other on my shoulder. ''What is it, madam?''
Although I didn't feel like burdening her with my discomfort I decided to tell her anyway. ''I'm bored. I'm tired of reliving the same day over and over again. I wish I could do something else. Something more.''
She contemplated for a while with a look so serious someone would have thought she was planning a nuclear attack on Obama. An eternity later she finally spoke up. ''We're going out.''
Taken aback, I asked, ''I'm sorry, what?''
''We're going out. Inform your security.'' She ordered, getting up from the bed and strutting towards the mirror as if she owned the security.
She probably did. They adored this little ball of sunshine.
''But where are we going?'' I asked, moving towards her and standing right behind her as she fixed her hair.
''To the carnival.'' She stated simply. Upon seeing my expression she further added, ''There's a carnival in this city. My friends say it's epic. I figured you could use a break and this carnival's the first thing that came to my mind.''
I contemplated for a while before looking at her face in the mirror. She looked so determined to let me have a break and to take me out with her. I didn't want to disappoint her. ''Okay then. We're leaving in ten minutes.''
With that statement, I began walking away but stopped when she spoke. ''Where do you think you're going dressed like that?''
I sighed. ''Honey, to the carnival. Like you just said.''
''I said 'carnival', not a business meeting to blast Trump.''
Furrowing my eyebrows at her words I looked down at my attire. Black trousers with matching heels, a black shirt rolled till my elbows and a crimson vest. ''I think it's fine.''
She looked at me with a deadpan look and I did the same. We looked like a couple married for years who were fighting over what to have for dinner.
''Wear casual clothes.'' She ordered plainly with a no-bullshit attitude before she went back to applying mascara on her eyelashes.
