If there was anything Hyunjin hated most, it was being sick. Not even his dislike of eggplant could compare to the resentment he felt towards being sick. This time was no exception.
Hyunjin had woken up with a headache and chills. 'Well fuck.'
Thinking back to the day before, he really regretted not bringing an umbrella with him to the studio. The forecast had predicted light rain, but "light rain" ended up being heavy showers. He was forced to walk home in the storm, getting soaked in the process. In the moment, he hadn't minded the water too much, but he was beginning to wish that he had thought ahead.
With a groan of frustration, Hyunjin attempted to drag himself out of bed. He could tell he had been sweating a lot, most likely due to a fever. After managing to sit up, he felt a surge of pain travel through his skull. Hyunjin knew the next few days were going to be a nightmare.
After a bit of struggling, mostly getting his limbs untangled from his bedsheets, Hyunjin managed to drag himself to the kitchen. He was met with the sight of Felix and Chan eating what he assumed was breakfast.
"Good morning, Jinnie!" Felix called, a signature sunshine smile on his face. Chan looked up to wave at Hyunjin, his mouth too stuffed full of fried rice to greet the newcomer.
"Mm..." Hyunjin replied. He didn't have the energy for unnecessary words.
"How did you sleep?" Felix asked, because of course he would. He always did.
"Not too bad. Still super tired, though. What about you?" Hyunjin answered, grabbing a glass from the cupboard.
"I didn't." Felix continued despite the matching glares of disapproval coming from both of the other people in the room. "A new season of Fortnite was released, so I was gaming all night."
Chan finally spoke up, face portraying nothing but seriousness. "Felix, sleeping is important."
"Sorry, I must've misheard you. I know my hyung, the literal CEO of not sleeping, did not just try to stress the importance of sleep to me." A small smile was still painted on Felix's face as he teased.
"Lixie has a point." Hyunjin added, feeling his headache worsen suddenly. He reached up, attempting to apply pressure to the worst of his headache, but it did nothing to ease the pain.
"Is something wrong, Jinnie?" Chan asked after noticing the wince of pain on Hyunjin's face as he reached up.
"Yeah, you look a bit pale. Are you alright?" Felix added, feeling slightly worried.
Hyunjin closed his eyes tightly, covering his face in his hands. "Yeah I'm fine." He removed his hands, blinking his eyes open. "I'm just sick, that's all."
Felix was immediately out of his chair and at Hyunjin's side, putting his hand to the other's forehead. "Jinnie, you're burning up! You should be in bed! Go, I'll bring you another glass of water."
Chan was standing at this point, as well, reaching for the black hoodie resting on the couch. "I can go get medicine. Should I buy anything else? Fever patches? Soup?"
"Guys, I'm fine!" Hyunjin tried to protest.
"Sure, get the patches! I'm sure we have ingredients for soup here, though." Felix answered Chan.
With that, Chan left through the front door, almost forgetting his wallet on the coffee table. Hyunjin let himself be led to Felix's room after the shorter insisted on washing Hyunjin's bed sheets. Something about making sure they were clean before he could lay in them again. So, Hyunjin found himself on Felix's bed while he tried not to think about how his body felt too hot and too cold at the same time.
"Jinnie, do you want a blanket?" Felix asked, entering the room with a bowl of cold water and a washcloth.
"No," Hyunjin replied as a chill ran up his spine. "I'm fine, I promise."
Felix looked at Hyunjin as if he wanted to help but didn't know how. Maybe that was exactly how he felt at the time.
Felix placed a cold, wet washcloth on Hyunjin's forehead after wiping away the sweat on his face and neck. The former then began to play gentle music on his phone, and Hyunjin was grateful for the way Felix seemed to read his mind.
"I'll call Minho-hyung. I'm sure he can make some soup."
"Why can't you?" Hyunjin teased.
"Because I need to stay here and take care of you, silly." Felix flashed his sunshine smile again.
"You think you're cute, don't you?" Hyunjin looked at Felix.
"Maybe just a little." He replied, leaning in for a kiss.
Hyunjin stopped him. "You'll get sick, Lixie."
A frown made its way onto Felix's face. "It's not like you have a sore throat."
"You know you could get sick, anyway."
"So what if I get sick?" Felix protested. "I would rather catch a cold than have to abstain from kissing you for days on end!"
"You're a dork." Hyunjin rolled his eyes.
"You love me for it." Felix smiled knowingly.
